under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home. She died January 29, 2009 at Clairmont
Nursing Home in Beaumont, TX. A native of Milligan, LA, she resided in Orange 50
years. She was a member of the Gate City Court of Calanthe. She is survived by 4 sons,
James Jones of New Orleans, LA, Ronnie Jones and LeRoy Jones both of Beaumont, TX
and Ricky McGlothin of Chantilly, VA, 2 daughters, Gwendolyn Jones of Orange, and
Mary White of Beaumont, TX., 14 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Catherine Liddell Allen, 74, of Orange, Texas passed away surrounded by her family on
Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7,
2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Graveside services will follow at
Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Stephenson of
First United Methodist Church, Orange. Catherine was born on December 5, 1934, in
Beaumont, Texas. She was the daughter of Dempsey Regan and Julia (Touchstone
Liddell. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and served on
the Caring Ministry Committee. She was a retired Attendance Clerk for the West Orange
Cove ISD and was a member of the Lutcher Theater Guild. She was preceded in death
by her parents and sister. Joan Liddell Brewer. She is survived by her husband of 54
years, Cecil Allen; son, Chris W. Allen and wife Annette, of Orange; daughters Donna
Benefield and husband Richard, of Orange, Cindy Reynolds and husband Craig, of
Orange; Grandchildren Katie Allen Worthy and husband Tyler, Hillary Benefield, Jordan
Allen, Aubrey Reynolds, Keely Benefield, Abby Reynolds; two great-grandchildren
Jacob Worthy and Carson Worthy; brother John Liddell; nephew David Devilbiss.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jordan Allen, Ricky Benefield, Craig Reynolds, David
Devilbiss, Tyler Worthy and Clay Bourgeois. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Allen,
H.B. Lindsey, James Bauman and Dexter Bassinger.
Alton B. Robinson, Sr. 84, of Orange, TX passed away, Saturday, January 31, 2009 at
Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Power of Praise Christian Center with entombment at
Magnolia Memorial Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff.
He is survived by his wife, Golda Faye Robinson; sons, Alton Robinson, Jr., Gary D.
Robinson (Doris), Van Terry Robinson (Cynthia), and Barry t. Robinson; daughter;
Jacquelyn "Cookie Blue; brother Mack Robinson, 13 grandchildren; 16 great
grandchildren; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Lula M. Leger Johnson, 73, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 4,
2009 in Lake Charles, LA. Mass of Christian burial will be 1:00 p.m. Friday February 6,
2009, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Rev. Tom
Phelan. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Claybar Funeral Home
will be in charge of services. Lula was born on January 3, 1936, in Duson, LA. She was
the daughter of Antonie and Laurence (Savoy) Leger. She enjoyed painting, Crocheting
and had a large collection of Afghans. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother;
Robert H. Leger and son, Randy Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth A.
Johnson, of Orange; daughter; Dana Lin Price, of Orange; two grandchildren; brothers45
