ST. GEORGE'S DAY
TUESDAY, April 23rd is St. George's
Day which is set aside in Inter-
national Scouting circles as the day
of International Scout Friendships.
St. George, we are told, is the Patron
Saint who has long served as "official"
protector of Scouts in most countries.
In the days of Richard the Lion Hearted,
St. George was known as the Soldiers
Saint. St. George brought courage and
strength to that great character of early
English history just as he has to our
Danish Scout friend pictured here as
he slays a fire-eating dragon.
We don't know of any Patron Saint
of Humor but each and everyone of us
should endeavor to be his own pro-
tagonist of good humor and do his best
to carry on in the spirit of the Eighth
Scout Law—A Scout is Cheerful. And
you can readily see that funny Scout
happenings of everyday occurrences
whether in Bengal, India or Southern
Rhodesia are behind the cartoons shown
here.
