Who They Are

^ Wbeele** McMillan
ito better man could have been found
11 for the editorial on "Food for Charac-
ter" in this issue than Mr. McMillen. Raised
on a 125-acre farm and getting his first
education in a one room rural school, he
has become nationally prominent in many
fields. He has built up reputations as a
farmer, newspaperman, agricultural jour-
nalist, author, speaker and as a man of
wide knowledge in economics, social prob-
lems and public affairs.
He is an enthusiastic Scouter, serving at
the present time as Chairman of the Rural
Scouting Committee of the George Wash-
ington Council, Trenton, N. J., member
of the National Council Executive Board
and Chairman of the National Rural Scout-
ing Committee.
He is still a farmer, living on his farm
at Hopewell, N. J., and maintaining his
office at Philadelphia where he is editor-
in-chief of "Farm-Journal" and "Farmer's
Wife."
A Personal Word
From the Editorial Staff
We don't know whether you have noticed
it, but we are trying hard to make
Scouting increasingly helpful to you men
who work directly with the boys.
Have you noticed the new treatment of
the Program Source Material Section, pub-
lishing articles in explanation of each sug-
gested activity in the program outline? Do
you like the idea started this month of
featuring three Scouting skills?
Have you noticed how practical the fea-
ture articles on Camping, Cubbing, Senior
Scouting and Health & Safety are — how
they are designed to help your program
rather than promote some one's theories?
We do not claim the magazine cannot be
better, in fact we are eagerly looking for,
and finding, ways to improve it. Won't you
help us? Send us your criticisms and your
suggestions. For example, has there been
any type of feature article that you would
like to have more frequently? Scouting is
for YOU, and we'd like to hear from you.
