binding up tho delegates from this stato for Bryan. If
any Instructions aro given tho obvious thing is to glvo

Tho Idea that Mr. Balloy has any personal Interest in
the nomination of Mr. Culberson Is simply ridiculous.
It has' been claimed that tho Junior sonator wants tho
placo of tho fionior but tho fact that Mr Balloy's term
docs not explro until two years after tho expiration of
Mr. Culborson's term knocks out any such profTostaroUB
claim. It is only decent justice to Mr. Culborson to
disconnect tho effort of his friends to secure lira nomina
tion for tho head of tho tickot next year with Mr. Bailey
in any manner. If Mr. Bailey has faults as many Texas
domocrats scorn to bo convinced of Mr. Culborson la
not to blamo for them and when ho Is mentioned In
connection with tho highest offlco within tho gift of tho
pcoplo it is an outrago upon him to bring In tho Bailey
row to try to discredit him and dofcat his promotion.
It is toounfalr to bo even discussed with patience
and wo triiBt that that plan of campaign will bo aban-

NOT FOR LOVE OF BRYAN.
Talk about tho possiblo nomination of Senator Cul-
licrson for tho presidency next year has brought ou.t tho
fact that Texas democrats -aro much more divided than
?as thought even In tho midst of the anti-Bailey tight -jour Teal estate agents to get together form an organ
. It may not last but at present It promises to stay
iwlth us longer than Is desirable. In discussing the
Cnlberson talk the Austin Tribune edited by C. E". Gil-
bert says:
Here in Texas because democrats (even "
though they be a good majority) dare ex-
press a preference for one of our own honored
statesmen for standard bearer thero are those
so afflicted with this one-man Idea that they
cry out "a conspiracy against Bryan" a very
bad caso of Bryanphobla. Texas will .declare
for Culberson .despito the rantings of one-idea
democrats.
"We1 do not believe that tho opposition to Culberson
in his own state is based upon love for Bryan but comes
from a desire to continue the war upon the junior sen-
ator and his friends. Tho newspapers that aro loudest
against the Culberson talk are those who fought Com-
mitteeman Johnston so bitterly when he was defend-
ing Bailey from the attacks of his enemies and. tho fact
' that Col. Johnston was the first Texan to advocate the
n nomination of tho Dallas Statesman for tho presidency
led them to Jump to the conclusion that Mr. Bailey's
' interests were In some way to be conserved by tho
movement In fact it has been charged by some of the
leading journals fighting the Culberson Idea that Balloy
wants to thus get tho senior out of the way.
It serious efforts aro made to instruct Texas dele-
gates for Bryan while Culberson Is being talked of by
other states it will bo about the most foolish piece of
political work ever done in the state. The Texas dele-
gates may bo safely trusted to do the right thing in Mr.
Bryan's Interests should the Culberson movement not be
strong enough to justify his friends in pressing his
name for the nomination as ho is known to bo the
choice of the state unless Culberson Is chosen but to In-
struct Texas delegates for Bryan when other states
would bo a reflection upon him that no patriotic citizen
aro advocating tho nomination of our own senior sonator
should contemplate with the least degree of patience. It
is to" bo hoped that no such thing is really contemplated.
It is well known or should be that neither Mr. Bryan
or Mr. Culberson would accept a nomination that did
r ' . ' . .
About the first of July tho farmers of other sections
of Texas jvill begin to look over West Texas for jiow
homes again and it is hoped that this section will be
ready to take caro of their part of those who come.

Ir.ation and adopt such rules and regulations as will
prevent ono firm from undue interference with others.
Tho plan of discrediting tho value of such property as
others have for sale is one that is most unfortunate and
will result in driving out the people we want to bring
here. Besides this such a course is expensive to. the
agents themselves and wo think that they ought to be
the first to take steps to put a stop to such a practice.
Sinco we said something along this line a few days ago
numerous Instances of grave offenses of this character
have been reported to us and the evil is even worse
than wo at first feared. In other places we have Been
the evil resulting from such methods and have also
seen them corrected by an organization. This is tho
reason we have taken the liberty of calling tho at-
tention of our real estate dealers to this matter. We
hope for the good of the town and country that some
means of stoping this practice may be deviled and put
into operation.
By the time that a stranger has heard that a halt a
dozenpropertles have something very wrong with them
be concludes that it is time for him to seek other fields
for investment and he hikes. Nothing is worse for a
community and all the people are interested In having
it stopped. This is the only reason we have for making
a suggestion in the matter of the real estate men.
There should be no "faction" In any city. Tho property
of individuals and every improvement made enhances
the value of all property in the corporation. Our town
is simply one big family. When this Is antagonized there
is little progress. When there Is a united pull for any
thing its accomplishment Is made easy. Envy jealousy
that gnawe3 at the heart and makes folks sour disgrunt-
nnd hatred are things to be despised. Envy is a canker
led and unhappy! jealousy warps the intellect and makes
up unfair In passing judement Hatred doesn't pay even
from a sordid point of view. Borden Citizen.
There Is some factionalism in every town or city and
you will always find the place that has the greatest
amouht making the least progress. A people scrapping
among themselves are usually too busy to keep up with
tho band wagon.
