WACO Sept. 2. Ono of tho prettiest
most sensational and clasBily played
exposes of tho great National game
that any fan might asplro to -witness
was played hero yesterday between lo-
cal Navigators and the Bronchos from
San Antonio. Both teams wore out for
blood and tho way they played tho
game from start to finish kept the
stands In a whirlwind of enjoyment.
It was tho first 1 to 0 shutout that
had been played on the local field in
many a day and was therefore duly
appreciated. Harry Abies the big
southpaw from San Antonio and Nav-
igator Herbert engaged In a pitching
duel. Far nine innings they strug-
gled mightily against each other and
at the close honors wero just about
oven. Each pitcher gave up four hits.
One of tho Bronchos' hits was for an
extra base but this was evened up
Tiy tho steadiness of Herbert and the
occasional wildness of Abies
The Bronchos played a "bettor field-
ing game. Their one error did not
materially change things. The locals
made threo errors. Both Schan and
White caught good games Leldy had
threo catchers in uniform ready to
shove in at a moment's notice.
A feature of tho game was tho hit
ting of Kipp. Also Dolly Stark's all
round work was good.

HOUSTON Sept. 2. The Houston
Buffaloes turned the tables on tho
victorious Sandcrabs yesterday and
won the- second game of tho series
with the utmost ease. The Buffaloes
showed a reversal of form ovor their
work. of tho preceding fow days both
in the field and at tho stick. They
"began at start to pepper Ike Cooper
Galveston's pitcher and kept up the
-bombardment thoughout the gamo.
Considering tho distress of their
Tielsman tho Crabs played a ve"fy good
game. While unablo to locate Wat-
son's floaters satisfactoily tho Gal-
vestonites backed up Cooper Yd the"
best of their ability nnd managed to
keop the score down to 5 to 0 Som
pretty playing was dona by tho Gal-
veston and Houston infield Badger
for tho latter club especially starring.
Northern for Houston was tho hardest
hitter whllo no man of tho Galveston
team got more than ono of tho Crabbs"
threo hits.
The attendanco was surprisingly
small it being" estimated that tho.
stands wero little more than half
full Tho fact that tho Buffaloes havo
already won the pennant may explain
this decrease In patronnago on tho
part of the fans.
