through friends mode the Btnte-
ment that "the voico of God told
mo to kill" was introduced by tha
state today at tho trial of Fox.
Tho defendnnt a former Ku Klux
Klan editor is charged with the
murder of William B. Coburn a
Klan attorney on November 5.
The Mate contend that Fox had
a motivo for slaying Coburn and
that the defendant did nut make
the announcement about hearing
"tho voic" until after he had con-
sulted with his lawyers and a
physician at least six days after
the shooting.
George Davis a newspaper man
testified he obtained the state-
ment for his papr from Dr. Lin-
ton C. Smith a physician on No-
vember 19 "after Dr Owen&by a
noted alienist; Dr. Smith and
Hugh Dorsay and Frank Hooper
two attorneys had a conference
with Fox."
Dr. Smith testified for the de-
fense that Fox oi November 9. tuld
