JOINT THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION.
Lar'e Party of Randall County People Meet
and Hold Dinner Together Plenty
of Good Amusement
Practically every perMn in
Kandall county celebrated the
Ti.ankgiving day on Thursday
o!' !at week. They had a right
to do o for they had plenty to
he thankful for--bountiful crop
jiood health and the finest peo-
ple on earth among which to live.
They could hardly ask for more
).) which to he thankful. There
wen.- various kinds of celebration-
big dinm-rs. little dinners
picnic on the canyons all kinds
of dinners. One o! these cele-
b);tiis deserves some little
speci;ii liiention. Jt was a joint
celebration in which 17 jx-ople
took part. They were big folks
little folks old folks and young
folks and for once in life the lit-
tle lolks and the young folks did
not have to wait.
This crowd of neighbors and
friends assembled at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. V. S. Keiser
in the north part of town each
family represented bringing an
assigned ortion of the dinner
thereby insuring a larger variety
and plenty of everything ne-es
sary. Four rooms in the house
were cleared and large tables
placed in order that every per-
son present might be able to get
an even break when dinner was
announced. Tlmse present state
that these tables fairly groaned
under the weight of good things
and that after dinner the people
present almost groaned also on
a-count of tin dinner. There
was too much for the crowd
present.
After the crowd had tried to
dispose of all the edibles the
afternoon was spent in various
ways games and conversation
together with two notable events
a turkey walk for the ladies and
a dog light pulled o!T in true pug-
ilistic style.
The turkej' walk created some
amusement among the partici-
pants which can be readily
understood by those who have
tried being blindfolded and walk-
ing toward a stake some fifty or
sixty yards away. Some of the
ladies would not tackle the job
by themselves and they therefore
walked in couples. Mrs. J. C.
Langcndorfer and Mrs. W. S.
Keiser were the joint winners of
the turkey and some say that
even they did not get close
enough to the stake to hurt.
J Jut the prize event of the oc-
casion was the dog fight which
Mrs. Keiser and Mrs. Miller
pulled off for the entertainment
of the crowd. Hoth ladies de-
clare that it was not intentional
but the spectators claim that it
was evidently pre-arranged and
some go so far as to claim that
the two principal ladies had
money wagered on the event on
the quiet of course.
Ever since the Keisers leased
the Peeler place and thereby
came into the possession of the
mangy canine which Mrs. Keis-
er entered in this event Mrs.
Keiser has been looking with
pride upon her "purp" and just
quietly bragging upon his fight-
qualities when occasion present-
ed. Since this Thanksgiving
battle not a word has been heard
from her. Her jioor dog got
whipjx-d and there is weeping
and wailing on Keiser hill.
Mrs. Miller owns a small dog
which goes along tending its own
business. On account of its size
it seems that Mrs. Miller was
not so sure of a winning in the
fight but she knew that "FidoM
was game and lie proved it. We
tried to find out from the ladies
just how many rounds the fight
lasted but one of theiu said she
didn't know as they kept going
round and around. The excite-
ment was intense and when at
last the smaller dog got the ad-
vantageand pressed it there went
up from the crowd a shout or a
wail according as they had plac-
ed their money.
Those participating in the days
celebration were: J. F. Winkel-
man and family (!. C. Miller
and family.T. F. Miller and fam-
ily M. H. Ilogle and family J.C.
Langcndorfer and family Will
Groendyche and family Mr. and
Mrs. John Eckert Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Culluiri W. S. Keiser and
family. John Potter and family
Mr. Sweeney and son of Amar-
illo Mrs. Hoff and daughter.
Koy Culluiri Byron Moss C. V.
Woolley and Fred Luke.
The Garrison (.'leaner says:
"I Joys with hats on the back of
their heads and long hair hang-
ing down over their foreheads
and cigarettes and smutty stories
in their foul mouths are cheaper
than old worn out horses. No
body wants to employ them and
sensible girls won't marry them.
They are not worth keeping to
anybody and it is not likely that
they will be able to keep them-
selves. If anybody should hap-
Ien to read this who answers
the above description let him
take a look at himself and jump
in a well and say "here goes
nothing."
Mr. and Mrs. James Ury Cran-
ford have moved back to this city
from Cordell Okla. and will
make their future home here.
Mr. Cranford will assist the
County Clerk in the discharge of
the duties of that office.

through Canyon City last Wed-
nesday on her way from Plain-
view to her home at Amarillo
and spent a few hours with her
friend Mrs. V. Edna Ilenson in
this city.
Mr. and Mrs. It. M. Husk re-
turned yesterday afternoon from
Hie) where they had been to at-
tend the funeral of Mrs. Kusk's
mother who died at that place
recently.
Auto Races With a Wolf.
While out riding in the Block
pasture last Thursday Frank
Lester of this city who was ac-
companied by several others
spied a wolf and immediately
gave chase in his auto. There
were no fences in the way and
for about three miles there was
a fine race in which the auto
finally won the wolf being dis-
patched by a shot from a gun in
the hands of one of the party.
