Dalland Joe Bailey crossed swords it
was as the meeting of a MacGregor
and a MacAlplne upon the brow of
Ben Lamond.
"They were fighting each other and
fighting desperately one the cham-

champion of William Polndexter. But
In the heat of the battle their nan-

an hour of trouble. He defended that
which was dearer than life to me
my honor. Nothing can ever come be-
tween us to cause me to forget that.'
"Later Mr. Ball took occasion to re-
fer to Mr. Bailey as one of the great-
est of democratic statesmen.
"If all men could differ on political
snd moral Issues as these men differ
and not permit that privilege to over
shadow the respect and courtesy that

"But all men are not big enough to

stock In trade Is calumny and abuse.
When 'one differs with them It Is be-
cause that one Is vile and wicked.
We could call names here In this re-
spect but shall refrain. It Is enough
to say thst we hsve thrm and that
they ought to get a splendid lesson
out ot the facts above referred-to."
