Hitler "Attacked" By
United States
Hitler has sunk to date, or damaged consider-
ably a total of eleven of our American vessels,
while we have reported not one single ship of the
Germans sent to the bottom b^ the United States.
The score stands, therefore in this undeclared
shooting war, eleven to nothing.
Still, in thl face of that, hitler has the ef-
frontery to tell his people that the United States
has "attacked Germany."
Of course, the policy we have adopted under
Mr. Knox, and which is endorsed by the President,
is that of not telling what, if anything, we are doing
to the German boats, since they believe that policy
best to work a depression on the yiorale of
Germany.
Still, if they know nothing of what is going
on in the way of having America sink their own
ships and do know that their men have sunk
eleven of ours and are out for more, it might have
an encouraging effect on them
Everybody know3 that Hitler is the one who
has been abused in all these years of his bloody
assault on innocent persons. All of them have
either attacked him first or they have been silent-
ly plotting on doing so. Rather than wait for
them to spring their bloody war on him first, he
beats them to the punch and then lays the whole
blame on others.
So with this country. He now says we at-
tacked him. All we have been doing was to await
ar excuse of some kind to fly at him nnd deal mis-
ery. Now we have done that very thing, he
tells his downtrodden and abused people.
Well, Mr. Hitler has really taken on some-
thing now. The United States will not stop until
the last ship of the Germans, the last plane and
the last gun, have been blown to kingdom come and
the giant mephlstopheles is chained to the bottom-
less pit.

government projects of defense is the kiuag of
rents to undue heights. Denison has learned, we
believe, that to hold rents in check is the best thing
for the general good of all. Mr. Rayburn pointed
out the danger of kiting rents while in a confer-

and expressed the hope that his district would not
be guilty of it.

I ihroutrh n fflass cage save one
time when the little fellow was
brought closer to him by a nurse.
Even then he had to wear a
mask and the nurse also was
wearing a thing-a ma-jig on her
face. Rules, they said, was the
reason—rules of health so that
the little fellow might get a good
start. Although he was born I
weighing something like nine
pounds and was still adding
weight, that makes no difference
—the precautions to keep the baby!
healthy until discharged from the,
hospital were kept up no matter j
how much the father wished to
hold his little one.
Of course, all of us wish that
cur children shall get a good start
in life from every standpoint'
That right belongs to all children
—to be well born and well cared
for in babyhood.
But what did your mother and
others in turn do? They had
none of this muzzled mouths,
glass cages, and massage with al-
cohol before the baby was
brought in at intervals to her
breast.
Back a few years ago, when
came the time for delivering a
baby we had no such hospitiliza-
tions, sincp the birth was in the
home and there was no glass cage
t(, keep ihr> hahy from the rp^t
of the family, especially the moth-
er and father. We seemed to
ret along fairly well by such old-
fashioned methods.
But that's all b'-en changed up
now and for a wife to berome ft
mother there ara to many ancles
that a baby has to he in the world
something like two or three
weeks before proper'y introduced
to the family circle.
They call it modern medical
science, but the father who is
held off at such arm's length
can't see it as being anything less
than ju< g little foolish. It is,
of course, for the best interest of
the child, if we must agree with
medical science, but to have it|
hold a father back in such manner
