Yes, this was a real letter from a boy in North
Carolina. Real as only a boy could say it. In its
few sentences were packed all the hopes and dreams
of that boy and his buddies. Not only the hope to be-
long, but the dream of a real Scout program in a
troop that owned and used tents and camping equip-
ment; one that got out and cooked and did "all the
things that a Scout is supposed to do."
The boys in your troops were lucky because they
got the chance to belong; have they also had the full
Scout program that they were dreaming about when
they were looking for a troop to join?
Your answer to that question will mean more to a
bunch of boys than you will ever know. They are
looking to you.
