M/ss Ruby Derrick weds Wayne Hammonds
Miss Ruby Derrick of
Pittsburg became the
bride of Wayne Ham-
monds of Naples In a
ceremony Saturday eve-
ning in the First Baptist
Church of Pittsburg.
Amidst a glow of can-
dlelight and red flowers,
the marriage vows were
exchanged with the Rev.
Roger Hammonds, cousin
of the bridegroom, read-
ing the vows for the double
ring ceremony.
The bride is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Derrick of Pitts-
burg. The bridegroom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. D. Hammonds of Na-
ples.
Lighting the church
were red cathedral tapers
burning in candelabra
trees. Baskets of red car-
nations flanked and cen-
tered the altar. Pews for
the family were marked
with red bows centered
with small poinsettias.
Willard Burhnam, or-
ganist, presented a med-
ley of pre-nuptial music
prior to the ceremony
which included "Theme
From Romeo and Juliet".
Miss Donna Hammonds,
cousin of the bridegroom
sang, "Turn Around,
Look at Me", and "The
Wedding Prayer". Mrs.
Cathy Worth, cousin of
the bride, also played the
traditional bridal proces-
sional and recessional.
The guests were seated
by Danny Hammonds,
brother of the bride-
groom, and James Tuck-
er of Wylie. Candleligh-
ters were Neal Reynolds
and Ronnie Reynolds,
cousins of the bride.
The bride entered the
church with her father,

who gave her in marri-
age. She wore a formal
gown of peau de sole In
an A-llne silhouette over
which she wore a long
sleeved chantilly lace
coat with a wedding ring
collar and chapel train.
Her elbow length veil
of bouffant tiered silk il-
lusion was held by a bow
enlightened with pearls.
She carried a bouquet
formed in a circle of red
carnations centered with
miniature red roses.
Mrs. Hulen Reynolds
of Cookville, cousin of
the bride, was the matron
of honor. She wore an
A-line gown of red peau
de soie decorated by a
white lace collar. Mrs.
Don Cole of Texarkana
was bridesmaid. Her
dress was identical to the
matron of honor. They
wore red illusion bows.
Their bouquets were
burning white tapers
nested in red tulle cen-
tered with a polnsettia
and velvet streamers of
red and white.
Little Miss Nita Ham-
monds, sister of the
bridegroom, served as
flower girl. She wore a
dress matching that of
the other attendants.
Don Cole served the
bridegroom as best man
and Clifton Derrick of Ft.
Worth, brother of the
bride, was groomsman.
For her daughter's
wedding, Mrs. Derrick
chose an ensemble of
blue Italian silk withbage
accessories.
Mrs. Hammonds chose
a blue knit dress with
black accessories. They
each wore a corsage of
white carnations.
Immediately following
the ceremony, the bride's
parents were hosts for a
reception in the fellow-
ship hall of the church.
Miss Ranes
is honored
at shower
The Americana Room
of the Naples Motor Inn
was the scene of a bridal
shower honoring Miss
Vikki Ranes, bride-elect
of Scott Cure, Saturday,
Dec. 6.
Miss Ranes is the
daughter of Mrs. Gladys
Ranes and the late Mr.
Ranes and her fiance is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Cure of Pittsburg.
Mrs. Cliff Brock greet-
ed the guests and pre-
sented them to the
honoree, her mother,
Mrs. Marvin Ranes, her
grandmother and Mrs.
Cure. Members of the
receiving line were pre-
sented white corsages.
The table was laid with
a white satin cloth with
net overlay. It was
centered with an arrange-
ment of white carnations
flanked by blue candles.
Each corner was caught
by a blue bow and an
orange blossom. Miss
Janet Vissering and Miss
Andrea Smith served
punch and cookies from
the milch glass appoint-
ment.
Mrs. Rex Ranes and
Miss Rhoda Ranes, sis-
ter-in-law and niece of
the bride, alternated in
registering the guests.
The table held the
bride's book and an ar-
rangement of a biue
candle and orange blos-
soms.
The many lovely gifts
were displayed through-
out the room. Approxi-
mately thirty guests call-
ed during the appointed
hours.

Business Women install officers
New officers were in-
stalled at the annual
Christmas dinner of the
Business Women's Club
held last Thursday night
at the Naples Motor Inn.
Mrs. C. E. Boozer was
named president of the
club, Mrs. Ed Smith be-
came vice president, and
Mrs. Thelma Moore sec-
retary.
Mrs. W. W. McNattwas
Atlanta man named
to head water board
Gordon Fulcher of At-
lanta, formerly of Naples,
has been elected chair-
man of the Water Quality
Board for the state.
president of the club for
the past year and she and
other outgoing officers
were presented gifts for
their service.
Twenty members and
seven guests were pres-
ent. Each person took a
$1 gift and put $1 on a
money tree. Numbers
were drawn and gifts ex-
changed.
The Christmas parade
was discussed and it was
decided that the club
would have a car in it.
Guests for the meeting
were Mrs. G. E. Dixon,
Mrs. Cantrell Jones,
Mrs. W. L. Cole, Mrs.
Wayland Giles Jr., Miss
Delise Stewart, Mrs.
Morris Craig and Mrs.
Lenoy Slider.

The bride's table was
laid with a floor length
cloth of chantilly lace
over red satin. Center-
ing the table was a white
memory candle sur-
rounded by greenery en-
twined with poinsettias
and flanked by the at-
tendants' candle-center-
ed bouquets.
One end of the table
held the four-tiered
cloverleaf based cake
lavishly frosted in red and
decorated with red sugar
spun roses. Cresting the
cake was a revolving mu-
sic box topped with wed-
ding bells. The opposite
end of the table held the
marble fountain punch
service.
Assisting at the bride's
table were Miss Gill
O'Quinn and Miss Wanda
Arnold of Spring Valley,
Calif., cousin of the bride.
Guests were registered
by Miss Janie Easley of
Mt. Pleasant. The table
was laid identical to the
bride's table. It held the
traditional bride's book
and dainty rice bags tied
with red ribbons.
For travel, the bride
wore a two-piece blue
knit suit with black ac-
cessories. After a brief
wedding trip, the bride-
groom will start a 14-
month tour of duty in
Vietnam and Mrs. Ham-
mond will be at home in
Pittsburg.
The Senior Citizens of
Omaha will meet at 9 a.m.
Thursday, Dec. 18, in the
fellowship hall of the
First United Methodist
Church at Omaha for a
Christmas party.
Each person who at-
tends is to take a gift
for exchange and a tree
decoration of some kind
to be put on the tree by

ter of Masonic Lodge Dis-
trict 5, which includes
nine lodges in this area.
