When the writer came to Abilene 20
years ngo Rev. John Campbell was
one of the first men whom he met. A
iricnusnip inni we pnzcu luucu was
formed and from that day until this
we have counted this modest quiet
Christian gcntlman among our best
friends. Always he had a warm hand
shake for us and nlways he asked ns
to our welfare. ovor too busy to
stop for n passing word nnd a son
tence of prayer that God would bless

his name for the man that he wob. In
his simple way he lived a- great life
and now In that better nnd brighter

his Master placed upon his brow as

months Mr Campbell hud suffered
from Kidney trouble and a general
break-down and his death was not un-
expected He was conscious up to the
hour of death nnd Thursday iitontlug

ing of the hour when he should die
He was ready und willing to go when-
