What is the matter with Mayor
MoClellan of New York as the
democratic candidate? Tamma-
ny favora him Bryan and his
friends would heartily support
him the delegates instructed for
Olney and Gorman would accept
him gladly and it looks now as
if the only crowd in the way of
democratic harmony are the
Hillites in New York. Mill has
nothing against McClellan px-
oeptthat he is Tammany's ohoice.
The Indiana democratic conven
tion instructed for Parker be-
cause the machine so ordained
but the mention of McClellan's
name brought out a 'spontaneous
and cyclonic cheer that lasted
several minutes. What is the
matter with McClellan?
From B. A. Johnsop of Hamby
who was in our office to subscribe
for The -Reporter and Dallas
Semi -Weekly News we learn
that only a half inch of rain fell
there Thursday ight May 12th.
Further out at Nugent there was
only a sprinkle but earlier rains
had visited that section and it
was no't suffering.
John S. Brown cf Hamby tells
us that they thought they had a
fine rain when they saw the
tanks full Friday morning but
when he got out into the fields he
saw that the rain was only a
dash. The ground was dry a
short distance from the surface.

The reception accorded Mrs.
Bracken the dainty Texas actress
last night on her first appearance
amounted to an ovation. Her
foot-hold onthe patrons and-pub-lic
of Waco is astounding she was
ably supported by Mr Bertman
Braoken and Company in "A
Kentucky Daughter" a play that
touches the heart of every one.
Mrs Brakens portrayal of "Lit-
tle Kentuck" was all that could
be asked. A full house was
present which seemed to thor-
oughly enjoy the play from be-
gining to end. A repetition of tho
play was requested for a Satur-
day matinee so the ladies and
children could see Mrs. 'Bracken
in the character she has created.
