The first event of the week was
a danoo oh Monday night at
Elks Hall reforenoo.toAyhioli was
made in these columns the- next
day.
Two wedding have been re-
ported in our columns. One a
Tjuiet home affair the other elab
orate.
Her friends gave an .entertain-
ment in honor of Miss Mabel
Kline on 'jl'huwduy night at the
home of Rev. 10. A. Smith. .Miss
Mabel is Jsoon to move with her
father's family to Crookett and
her many friends will lose her
with much regret. . ' j
Thursday afternoon Miss Jew-
ell Roberts entertained at Euchre
in honor of MiflsGray of 'Flori-
da The event was an unusual-
ly pleasant one and the. young
hostess won many compliments.
Mrs. Osoar. Jan'nasoh won the
.prize a handsome pioture. -

heaped high on the silver receiv-
ers in the hands of Emmie Low-
don and Helen Cooke whoso
pretty smiles of welcome gave a
hint of the pleasures in store.
The hospitable porjkal opening
revealed Miss Roberta Parker in
the. daintiest of white toilets
wiih outstretch hand and witty.
words of greeting.
Conduoted by her the guests
were ushered into the parlors and
to a galaxy of beauty. Soft
strains of music fell on the ear
and June's own roses with the
sun's yellow light imprisoned in
their hearts festooned the cur-
tains and gladdened the eye.
The oharming hostess stood
next the door and by her side
wit winning smile and dainty
grace was pretty little Clara
Next in order came Misses Lu-
oy Keeble Rie Anderson Ella
Mots Annie Heyok and Eloise
Cookrell all resplendent in toi-
lets Worth need not have blush-
ed to own.
And. now oame Mrs. Bradfield
with Her warm olasp and .an in-
troduction to the seoond parlors

at her wittiest and the girls their
prettiest who could remember to
"Punch with care."

and her assurance that there was
yet another glass of punoh and

Misses Jewell "Roberts and
Maymo Loighty smiled aoross tho
punoh bowl and encouraged
while wo struggled for thatdher-
ry. As wo made tho tour of the

The new sanitarium behig fi-
ted'iip by the'Drs. Alexander
will be a splendid thing for Abi-
leno. The E. F Elkin home-
stead was purchased for that
purpose and is an ideal place. It
consists of three aores of ground
a large airy4 well built twostory
house in a quiet part of the oity.
Dr. J. M. Alexander who is 'a
the head of this movement is one
of the best physicians in West
Texas or the entire state for
that matter has enjoyed a largo
and lucrative practice for several
years and is eminently qualified
both by study and praotioe to
preside over suoh an institution.
Dr. S. M. Alexander while
younger in the praotioe has in a.
snort time made rapid strides in
his profession and the team is a
strong one.
Every modern appliance will
be utilized and with the addition-
al advantges of- the best climate
in the state this sanitarium pro
mises to be a boon to suffer-
ing humanity and an enterprise
of great value to Abilene and
West Texas.
This is not an advertisement

this long needed addition to its

Rev. L. R. SoarbOrough re-
turned yesterday (Friday) from
Cleburne where he held a two
weeks meeting and while he is
very hoarse left on the noon
train today to hold a meeting
at Baird. He had a great meet-
ing at Cleburne sixty conver-
sions and tho church greatly re-
vived. Mrs. Lowranoe and little son
Henry Lee have returned from a
lengthy stay at the World's Fair.
Henry Lee was in our office this
morning.
