Selective Service Headquarters
instructed State Directors to place
men with dependents into two
classifications—3-A for those not
engaged in essential war work, and
3-B for those who are engaged in
essential war work. No men with
dependents will be taken until all
available physically fit men with-
out dependents have been called,
headquarters said. When men with
dependents are taken, those in
the 3-A classification will be called
first. The Army said persons with
disquilifying physical defects which
can be corrected will be classified.
1-A (suspended) and reclassified as
1-A when the defects are cleared
up.
