Driver course offered in Cass county
A driver training school for
persons 18 years old or older
who want a drivers license
will be taught by state offi-
cers at the Cass county district
court room in Linden at 7 p.m.
on Oct. 14-15-16.
Sheriff Bill Dowd is spon-
soring the clinic, first of its
kind in Cass county, and those
desiring to attend must sub-
mit their names ^nd address-
es to the sheriff's department
by mail or in person before
5 p.m. on Oct. 14.
The three sessions of three
hours each will be held to
complete the training and ex-
aminations given on the last
night of the course.
The Texas Department of
Public Safety is cooperating
in sponsorship of the clinic,
and instructors will include
license examiners, highway
patrolmen and safety officers.
The course will include ori-
entation on highway signs, sig-
nals and markings, traffic
laws, rules of the road, and
defensive driving procedures.
Sheriff Dowd said the course
is a free service to the people
of Cass county. A special in-
structor will be on hand to as-
sist those who cannot read
and write.
Those who attend the en-
tire nine hour course will be
given the Texas written li-
cense examination on the final /
night of instructions and *

Vaccination program
Cattlemen in Morris and adjoining counties
are eligible to participate in the state and
federal government's cooperative brucellosis
eradication program, and R. L. Skelton of Bry-
ans Mill is shown with Katherine Morrison,
fiaingerfield veterinarian, as she vaccinated
one of his calves for bangs disease. The pro-
gram recommends that all heifer calves be-
tween the ages of 4 and 12 months be vac-
cinated. The state and federal government
pays the veterinarian.

Historical Society to meet Thursday
The October meeting of the
Morris County Historical Soci-
ety will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday. Oct. 17, at the court
house in Daingerfield.
The society now is interest-
ed in finding historical materi-
als in the form of diaries, let-
ter collections, journals, mus-
ter rolls, and other records.
A regional meeting of the
historical societies will be held
Nov. 9 at the Blackstone Hotel
in Tyler.
