An" Explanation.
Linden, Texas, Nov. 1st, 1913.
Mr. A. G. EHiot, Jr.,
Dallas, Texas,
Dear Sir:
This is to certify that John-
ston, Elliot, & Company and A.
G. Elliot, Jr., &s Agent through
through their attorney Mr. C. II.
Read of Dallas, Texas, entered
into a contract ttlUi t his compa-
ny nearly a year ago for us to
get up the abstracts on all the
contra^s signed fay the Linden
for the ore deeds. This
contract instructed us to get up
these abstracts as fast us we
could so that A. G. Elliot as
Agent could pay oyer the three
dollars per acre as fast as the ti-
tles to the ore lands were in
good legal condition.
Mr. Luckle agreed to see that
this work was started at once
and deliver these abstracts as
fust as he could. Mr. Luckle did
not deliver these abstracts as
fast as he should aud put A. (J.
Elliot, Jr., back in his payments
to the various property owners.
Had Mr. Luckel lived up to his
contract the abstracts would
have allowed Mr. Elliot's attor-
ney to have arranged the defect
in any of the titles and Mr. Elli-
ot was pft?vented from paying
over the three dollars as fast as
he wanted to on account of our
delaying the work.
Every since June this year tliis
abstract company has been
working to get up these abstracts
and we are doing all we can to
get them to Mr. Read and if the
three dollar per acre have net
been paid by Mr. Elliot it is not
his fault but ours and we are to
blame for the delay.
Regretting that we have caus-
ed you any delay in this import-
ant matter and assuring you
that we are now doing all we are
able to in order to get these ab-
stracts to your attorney and will
keep at the work until we do
from his cash customers. For
each^ dollars' worth of goods | "f"iuish"the work,"we remain,"
Very Truly Yours,

and happy faces were trying to
outshine the bright wood fire.
After a while of animated con-
versation we were invited to the
dining room where delicious cake,
punch and hot coffee were served.
The hour after refreshments was
spent in discussing ways and
means of making our society
better and more interesting.
The free will offering which
amounted to $5.00 was given to
State Mission.
The shadows were getting
lengthy when we wended our way
homeward, each hoping to again
enjoy a pleasant afternoon some
time with these good ladies.
May the blessings of God beupon
