Campaign Dates Set
For Gonzales Warm

Gonzales, Texas Dates for the
state-wide drive to raise funds for
Gonzales Warm Springs Founda-
tion for Crippled Children, Texas'
own treatment center for physical-
ly handicapped youngsters, have
been set for September 1G-30, ac-
cording to announcement by Ross
Boothe, Foundation President.
Governor Allan Shivers is serv-
ing as general chairman of th£
Gonzales Foundation committee,
spearheading the appeal for funds
to expand the facilities of the non-
profit, non-sectarian hospital.
Gonzales Warm Springs Founda-
tion operates a 115-bed hospital,
chartered by the state but built
by contributions from genenous
•
Texans from every corner of the
state and dependent upon (hem
for support. II bears the stamp of
approval of the American College
of Surgeons, emblematic of the
high calibre of the treatment pro-
gram offered to any Texas child
regardless of color, creed, or fin-
ancial condition.
A building program is under
way at the Foundation which will
add approximately 30 beds to its
capacity, providing space for the
treatment of about 100 more child-
ren each year. Money raised by
public subscription (luring this
September campaign will be used
to provide these and other facilit-
ies to enable the Gonzales Foun-
dation to extend its medical pro-
gram to many more physically
handicapped little ones in Texas.
Four Of A Kind
Garden Club News
CLUB REPORTER
Life would be pretty dull, if it
weren't for hope and it was get-
ting pretty dull for gardeners un-
til Saturday afternoon. Then
things started looking up as show-
ers began to fall. I do believe the
weeds grew an inch during the
night.
Everything looks brighter, and
we bought our turnip seed and
started thinking about bulbs and
planning for our spring blooms.
1 hope by the time you read
this, you will have received your
new yearbooks and have planned
to attend every meeting this year.
We want to-do big things and it
will take all of us working to-
gether to get them done.
If we work hard we may give
the Lions Club a little competition.
OLDSTERS WED
Long Beach, N. J. Morris Her- j
man and Laura Colby were recent-
I ly married. The unusual thing a-
j bout it was the fact that both are
83 years old. Four generations if
[ in-laws attended the ceremony,
! which climaxed a whirlwind court-
ship of two months.

Horden, police detective, went to
work recerftly with one side of his
face bandaged. He told court offic-
ials that a doctor diagnosed his
trouble as circoniorbital haemato-
ma or in plain language a
black eye.
jl think the secret of their success
is good attendance at the meet-
ings. So let's try to be at all the
meetings this year. A few of us
just don't have the ideas and
plans that others would have.
So be there whether you want to
