Sister Of C. Hicks
Passes Away Friday
Mrs. Annie llicks Dalton pas-
sed away January 6, 1950, at her
home in McKinney, Texas. She
was born March 15, 1895.
Mrs. Dalton had been out in
her yard talking with a neighbor,
and returned into her house. Her
husband and Kirby Dalton, came
in from town and found her lying
on the floor. Death came about
3 p.m. from a heart attack.
She was a member of the
East McKinney Christian Church.
Funeral Services were conduct-
ed by Rev. Clinkenberd, Rev.
Rogers, McKinney, and Rev. New-
land, Dallas. Pallbearers were
her nephews: Doyle, Clifford, and
Sam Odle, Jr., of McKinney;
Lacy Hicks, Wylie; Carnell Hicks,
Garland; R. O. Johnston, Pampa;
Hubert and Porter Alexandria,
Fort Worth.
She is survived by her hus-
band, one son: Elzie Dalton; two
grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs.
Hattie Odle, McKinney and Mrs.
Minnie Johnston, Kelton Texas;
two brothers: A. C. Hicks, Mur-
phy and C. J. Hicks, Wylie.

things in store for Wylie.

Lavon Dam 90 days ahead of
schedule; new shift added. State
Fair of Texas in the news as
a big coming attraction. Meth-
odist revival under way with Rev.
Felix Kindel doing the preaching.
W. M. Groves brought in first
bale of cotton for the 1949 sea-
son. R. L. Mullin Lumber & Loan
Co. to locate here. Trinity Val-
ley Association visits Lavon Dam
on tour of projects.
SEPTEMBER
Model Farm, near Princeton,
drew thousands of visitors at
"face lifting." Cotton season well
underway. Capt. Geo. W. Busby
of Texas Highway Patrol, speak-
er at Lions meeting.
Farmersville first opponet of
the Pirates in opening football
season. Rockwall and Royse City
followed in order. Fireman's Car-
nival drew large crowd.
OCTOBER
Anna, Princeton, Frisco and!
Celina on Pirates football sched-'
ule. Hundreds attended Ex-Stud-
ents Association first annual j
homecoming. East Fork Associa-
tion held executive meeting here,
and local pastors organized Min-
ister's Alliance.
NOVEMBER
Blue Ridge, Anna and Com- j

season. Pirates finished in tic j

standings.
Farmers finished bumper cot- j
ton crop while community paused
to give thanks in Union church

DECEMBER
Santa C'laus came to town and
hundreds of kids were on hand.
Also pep squads, bands, etc were
on hand to welcome St. Nick.
Christmas theme of meetings
and parties as Yuletide season
filled with a round of activities.
Merchants busy, stocks depleted,
stockings hung.
What? New Year's Eve? No.
Couldn't be. 1949 just arrived a
