A revival meeting is in progress at
Belle Plain Avenue Baptist church
with Rev. W. M. Scott doing the
preaching. He is a preacher of rare
ability having mighty power with God
ami men. He preaches the old fashion
Gospel and -makes his bearers feel
hat it is still "the power of God unto
w I ration to every one that believeth."
The subject discussed last night
"was "The Joy of Salvation." Basing
his .remarks on the fifty-first Psalm
the preacher said in substance:
"Even human being enters the
world with Uie seed of the Adamic sin
in .the soul. God takes care of the in-
fant until he reaches the age of ac-
countability when he becomes - re-
sponsible for his own sin. Until then
lie infant is safe. but. not saved
Ghrjst atoned for the Adamic sin and
remitted it forever: but the time of
personal responsibility comes and
one does not naturally seek after God.
.Mit begins to add sin to sin; develop-
ing the germ of sin that was latent in
the infant's soul: for there is no such
'hinn as a little infant Christian. The
ihiq comes when the sinner I s the
Gospel realizes he is a lof Hinnrr:
repents of his sin toward ( d and
believes in Jesus as his own .roiul
Savior and immediately. becomes the
lossessor of an everlasting salvation
lie does not keep his salvation but
the salvation keeps him by the power
af God. He can not lose salvation-:
'nit joy. a by-product of salvation.
Tiay and is likely to be lost. Many
christians have lost the joy and think
they have lost the salvation and so
Irift further away from God until
they feel they were never saved only
ieluded. or else they have hopelessly .
"alien from grace; -when really they'
have just lost joy. one of. the by-
products of salvation. Quite a few are I
seemingly forever locked up in the
"Doubting Castle or Giant Despair"
Aith just' enough religion to make
ih cm miserable. There are principally
two sjns which cause a Christian to
Snckslide. and lose the joy of salva-
tion. The first is the sin of omis-
jion: failing to do the thing God
Commands such as lining up with the
people of- God; getting on the Hrini
line and staying on the job.. A Chris-
tian can not hp. a slacker or n quitter
md be a happy Christian: but he must
"lend an aggrpsj-i've life what he does
he must do quickly: for the night'
;omcs speedily when no man can
work.. Then many especially those
guilty of the first are guilty rf the
second namely the sin of cotnmis-
Ion doing the things that God for-
)ids. Indulging in one sin leads io
motherland if a man is guilty of one
if these sins he is Usually guilty of
)Oth. In this state we can not be
jappy. or useful In the Master's serv-
ice. Then how Imperative it is that
'ho j'oy of salvation bo restored and
retained. Without it we can't pray:
If I regard' iniquity in my heart the1
Lord will not hear me.' David said
1 will sing praises unto Thy name
nit you can't sing the gospel if you
harbor sin in your life. Ho said 'I
will teach transgressors thy way and
sinners shall bp convc
jf jut he couldn't nelth
cried unto thee;'
either can you win
lost souls to Christ with sin in the
life and without the joy ot salvation.
God only can restoro the joy of sal-
vation and this will Ho do speedily
If wo come directly to .Testis like
David with confession of sin a
broken heart and a contrite spirit.
Say 'I will arise and go to Jesus' "
There Will be services each day at
