high cost of living has been confined
largely to further collections of in-
formation relating to the subject and
to the study by -department of justtee
officials of existing laws to determine
whether . they are adequate to enable
them to cope with the situation.
Attorney General Gregory announc
ed that he would determine within a
few days whether he would recom
mend to the president that congress
be asked to pass additional legisla
tion.
In congress Representatives Sabath
and Farr introduced resolutions
which would provide for further in-
vestigations into the high pTice of cer-
tain foodstuffs. The Sabath resolu-
tion would direct the secretary of
commerce to. inquire Into and report
on the high cost of sugar with par-
ticular reference to' reported: large
dividends of sugar companies. The
Farr resolution would proTide lor an
inquiry by the secretary of agricul-
ture into the supply the importations

the resolutions for a city hall and
