Kindergarten Hosts Party
"Come and See My
Christmas Tree," apoerr\
began the party at the
Wylie 'Jnited Methodist
Church hosted by the Kin-
dergarten last Friday
evening.
Explained Mrs. Mary
Townsend, one of the
teachers, "We have been
studying the two parts of
Christmas - the tun part
and the birth of Christ.
We divided our program
into these two parts, and
the first part was the fun
part i n which we sang,
'jingle Bells,""JollyOld
St. Nicholas," dnd "Upon
The Housetop." In the se-
cond part, we sang about
the Baby Jesus. Away
In The Manger," "Silent
Night," and "Long Ago"
were vocalized. The spe-
cial surprise came at the
end of the program when
the boys and girls sang
to their parents ana
guests, "We wish you a
Merry Christmas!"
Approximately 85 guests
attended. Punch, coffee and
cookies were seved.
On Monday morning the
boys and girls were still
very excited over this e-
vent. "We had a party,"
stated Paul Combest.
"We sang Jolly Old St.
Nicholas, commented
Karen Anderson.
"Away In The Manger is
what I liked," said Stacy
Nail.
But Andy Tindal reminded
the group that "Jesus be-
gan Christmas." This we
should all remember.

Voices in the Mist

f
The time draws near the birth of Christ;
The moon is hid; the night is still;
The Christmas bells from hill to hill
Answer each other in the mist.
Each voice four changes on the wind,
That now dilate, and now decrease,
Peace and goodwill, goodwill and peace.
Peace and goodwill, to all mankind.

Gives Farm
Tax Tips
CHRISTMAS tIAPPY
. NEW YEAR
Happy Holiday!
To One and All!
Wylie Flower & Gift Shop
442 5837
The 1972 edition of the
"Farmer's Tax Guide"
is now available from
county agricultural agents
or the Internal Revenue
Service, Ellis Campbell,
Jr., District Director of
Internal Revenue for
North Texas, said today.
The booklet, IRS Publica-
tion 225, shows how far-
mers should fill out the
1040 tax return and which
schedules should be at-
tached. A listing of im-
portant Federal tax dates
for farmers can also be
found in the publication.
Written in non-technical
language, the tax guide
contains many examples
of how farm transactions
are handled for Federal
income tax purposes.
Although primarily writ-
ten to help farmers pre-
pare their 1971 tax re-
turn, the Guide is useful
as a reference through-
out the year.
Christmas... what mem-
ories it evokes. What joys
it promises. In all of the
recorded history of man,
what other holiday com-
pares with it?
It is the day long looked
forward to by children —
yes, even in this cynical
age, in this year of 1971
when even young children
are quite knowledgeable.
However, the smart young-
sters keep some of this so-
phistication to themselves
at Christmastime. It is
economically feasible to at
least pretend, at Christmas-
time. Even if we have
"strayed like lost sheep"
from the faith of our child-
hood, if we can recapture
some of it, we would be the
better for it.
Some of the magic will
"wear off" on us. That is
magic, itself. And who is to
dispute the validity of it?
Those of us who live in
climates where snow can
be expected at Christmas
are lucky, indeed.
Marco Polo, traveling
through the land of the
Great Khan, found that the
Khan and all his subjects,
by tradition, wore white
robes at New Year's, which
they celebrated in Febru-
ary. The white robes they
considered a good omen to
bring them luck and hap-
piness. The subjects pre-
sented jewels to their ruler
so that he might know abun-
dance throughout the year.
one can hardly see out the
window!
As Sir Walter Scott says
. . . "Heap on more wood!
the wind is chill — But let
it whistle as it will, We'll
keep our Merry Christmas
still."
Some of us wish that the
wind would be chill, and
whistle, and give us red
noses, so that we would be
afraid, as children, it might
fall off!
But we can keep Christ-
mas in our hearts, and in
our spirit, wherever we live.
I

it is fitting therefore that
the famed ballad has now

The sales tax on auto-
