Sandlin, Overby Win
Chili Cookoff
Rick Sandlin and Gary
Overby combined their talents
in the annual chili cookoff at
First National Bank/Sachse.
The result: first place
among eight contestants as
the bank celebrated its fifth
birthday Saturday.
They called their winning
entry "Standby."
In second place with "Out
West" was Tom Westbrook,
and Marilyn Dow took third
place with "Wednesday's
Chili."
Judges were Debbie Fritz,
Larry Holden and Raymond
Jones.
Their samples were zesty,
to say the least. Jones cool-
ed off with a soft drink and
Holden commented, "I'm
burning from the inside out."
The other entries were cal-
led "Trail's End," "Peg's
Best," "Deer Beer," "JRT,"
and "Auxiliary Chili."
The day's festivities featur-
ed music by the five-piece
Charlie Shearer and The
Lonesome Outlaw Band, hot
dogs, soft drinks, popcorn,
snow cones and a lot of good
fellowship.
