Sachse Residents
Make 1991 Predictions
UbrTy^Camille'* • Jessica Clark'
Some Sachse residents
turned prognosticators for the
coming year a la Jeane Dixon.
Unlike Dixon, though, whose
forecasts usually center on
movie stars or royalty,
Sachse's guessers of the

rumblings of war or
nearer-to-home problems
such as the price of gas.
At Allsup's, Katherin Morris
said: "I think we'll go into a
depression and have war." On
a more cheeerful note,
co-worker Rhonda Simmons
added: "I think gas prices will
go down and stay."
Pat Stone said: "I predict it
will be a great year for all the
folks on Sachse Road."
Edith Bailey said, "I'm
looking for the Lord to come."
A longtime member of
Assembly of God, she put in a
good word for the minister.
"Brother Rick (DuBose) really
has the church growing - from
30 or so in attendance to
more than 150 at the services
now."
Naomi Reed, taking time-
out from a big holiday dinner
at her home, said: "I think
Sachse will continue to grow
and prosper with the help of a
very outstanding Mayor Larry
Holden."
At Michael Watkins' Puttin'
on the Ritz, Jackie Taylor
went out on a limb to say:
"The Mavericks won't make
the playoffs." Janet Kendrick
said, "I think war is
inevitable."
Patti Shubzda said, "Maybe
we'll get our troops home
from the Middle East and
everyone will be happy and
healthy."
Mary Ann Barnett's
forecast: "Prices will go down
- or does that sound too
far-fetched?"
At Paul's Grocery, Christi
Morlan said: "In 1991, I think
they'll let all the hostages go
and there won't be a war."
Brian Butcher, North Garland
High student, said: "I hope for
the best, but we'll probably go
\ to war."
Ernest Fudge, bouncing back
from serious health problems,
said, "I just hope I survive
•91," and then the World War
II veteran added: "I predict
that somehow they'll avoid
war in the Gulf and smooth it
out."
Bonnie Longacre said: "I
just live to day - I won't even
predict what might happen
toni
ght." Bonnie probably
doesn't even buy green
bananas.
