to Murphy this month
The city of Murphy
will host a corny affair
- Maize Days - Sept.
25 and 26.
Celebrating "every-
thing corn," the inaugu-"
ral annual festival will
celebrate the history of the

themed contests and cook-offs
such as a corn-spitting contest,

brates the community's rich his-
tory.
The Community Events
Committee, appointed by city
council and charged with organ-
izing community events, came
up with the idea of a corn festi-
val, and Murphy Maize Days
was bom.

cornbread cook-off, karaoke
Corn Idol contest, square danc-
ing and a scarecrow contest, and
continue Saturday, Sept. 26,
with live music by Texas coun-
try music artist Gary P. Nunn,
the Gasoline Alley Car Show
and fireworks.
