■ Reduced flu shots offered by health care services
Collin County Health Care Services will offer flu shots at a reduced
cost to ensure that residents are protected before the height of flu sea-
son. The cost for an adult dose will be lowered to $10 and the chil-
dren'^ dose will be lowered to $5.
Currently, the State of Texas is experiencing sporadic influenza activ-
ity. "This is similar to last year and is expected to increase in January,"
said Collin County nurse epidemiologist Janet Glowicz. "The most
effective method of preventing influenza infections is vaccination."
Flu vaccinations are given from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday
through-Friday.
Vaccinations are open to all age groups.
The health department is located at 825 N. McDonald St. in
McKinney. Medicare. Medicaid, and CHIP are accepted. Payment can
be made with cash or check.
For additional information about this year's flu vaccine, visit the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at www.cdc.gov.
