Salmon Chowder
(Serves 8)
2 strips bacon
1 medium onion, sliced
3 cups potato slices. Vi-inch
thick
3 cups boiling water
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups flaked, cooked salmon
2Vi cups cooked peas
2 cups milk
Dice bacon, add onion and
saute until golden brown. Add
potatoes and boiling water and
cook until potatoes are tender
Add remaining ingredients heat
to boiling and serve hot

Girls 4-H Council
The Armstrong Co. Girls 4-H
Council met Sept. 4, 1954, at the
Community Home.
A motion was made and second-
ed that the bills for the ribbons be
allowed. Also a motion was made
and seconded that the bills at S &
M be paid.
Four members and two leaders
were present.
HD Council
Tea Big Success
The Home Demonstration Council
tea was a big success. The tea
room was full nearly all the time.
The Council was glad to see so
many visitors who are not members
of a demonstration club.

Airport Saturday morning and they
drove to Claude to spend the La-
tor Day week-end with their par-
ents, Mrs. and Mrs. D. F. Boggess.
Mr. and Mrs. VanAusdall have a
service station >11 Plainvlew. Fred
is employed as a steam fitter for
TVA and he lives in Athens, Tenn.
He has been with the TVA some
15 years.

Mrs. Nutter wis hostess to the
Christian Womens Fellowship for
bible study and covered dish lun-
cheon Wednesday, September first.
In the ahsence of the Chairman,
Mrs. Doyce Breedlo\e, Vice Chari-
mna, Mrs. McMillan had charge
of the meeting. After old and new
business was discussed Leona
Wood '.v a r d, Secretary-Treasurer,
gave a report on the food sale held
last Saturday.
Mrs. Dodge gave the opening
prayer. Mrs. Hudson led a most
interesting lesson from second Cor-
inthians, chapters 9. 10, 11, 12, and
13. The next lesson will be the
first three chapters of Galations.
Mrs. Bailey gave the prayer for
the luncheon. After a delicious meal
was served and dishes cleared away
the meeting adjourned.
Those present were Mmes. Leona
Woodward, Mary McMillan, Nancy
Hudson, Nell Campbell, Lizzie Col-
lins, Mattie Bailey, Clair Crowell,
Dolla Dodge, Cora Hunter, and
the hostess, Mrs. Nutter.
The next meeting of the Chris-
tian Womans Fellowship will be a
missionary study to be held in the
church September 15.
Needlecraft Club
In Posey Home
The Needlecraft Club met Thurs-
day evening, Sept. S, 1954, with
Mrs. Aubrey Posey. A quilt was
quilted.
Our next meeting will be with
Mrs. Jess Wertenberger Sept. 16,
1954, in the evening. That will be
Polla Anna day.

First Meeting
The Mothers Club will have their
fifst meeting Monday night, Sept.
13th, at 8:00 o'clock in the high
school auditorium. Films of inter-
est to all parents will be shown
followed by a social hour honor-
ing the teachers. All parents are
urged to attend.
Methodist WSCS
Monthly Program
The Methodist Woman's Society
of Christian Service convened on
Wednesday morning, Aueust fi5,
1954. at 10:00 o'clock in the church
parlor for its monthly program and
business meeting. The program
theme "Seedtime and Harvest" di-
rected by Mrs. Robert Hood opened
with Mrs. Tom Collins playing
softly "It's No Secret What God
Can Do." Mrs. Frank Clark brought
the devotional on "Jesus' Love for
Rural Folks" asking Mrs. J. C.
Yeaman to lead the group in sing-
ing hymn "The Voice of God Is
Calling", Meditation thoughts were
on "Christ coming and chosing to
spend His few short years of
earthly life close to the rural scene,
using rugged, working men for His
disciples, leaving with them, the
poem "Our Saviour, Christ's Coun-
try Homes and Schools." Responsive
reading "Christ Called Himself the
Good Shepherd" by Mrs. Tom Col-
lins and Mrs. Frank Clark. Hymn
"Near to the Heart of God" was
sung by group. Then to close the
devotional, its supervisor read "A
Prayer for the World Council of
Churches" that was being held in
Evanston, Illinois, August 15-31,
1954. Then "A Pageant of Rural
Missions" was given. Properties
were: map of Korea and Japan on
wall, globe on table, at front, open
