EAST TEXAS FAMILY RECORDS VOL.19, NO.4, WINTER 1995
(Anderson County - The Griffin Family - continued)
date for Michael, so I don't know if he died or they divorced. Therefore, I
do not have Adaline's maiden name at this time.
Since Troy died in 1868, Adaline is listed with 4 of her children on the
1870 Fayette County census: Mike, John, Laura Melinda, and David (the last
child that was not named on the 1860 census.)
Troy and Adaline's son, Michael S. GRIFFIN, moved to Texas before 1883.
He married Amanda F. COOK in Anderson County, Texas on August 20, 1883. They
had the following children and all were born in Texas:
Troy Sept 1884
Infant Son 1887 died
Birdie May Oct 1889
Ira H. Nov 1893
Odie R. Dec 1898 died before 1910
Marion S. 1904
Thomas S. 1907
Michael and Amanda are buried at the Ft. Bethel Cemetery so I have a
feeling they lived in Bethel, Texas. Michael died at the age of 75 in 1928
and Amanda died at the age of 91 in 1959. They rented the farm where they lived
in 1900. Michael made the trip from Alabama to Texas at least 10 years before
his sister, Laura Melinda GRIFFIN REESE, that settled in Wood County, Texas
with her husband William J. REESE.
