His stock of funny stories is
practically inexhaustible, and you
hardly ever see him that he doesn't
have some new gay, little, puzzle
gadget to test your ingenuity.
Ilarvey B. Richards gets a great
big bang out of life and he's a lot
of fun to know. But he works hard
well as playing hard, not only at
his job as personnel manager for
the Mosher Steel Company, but also
in many civic affairs.
Harvey and Mildred were mar-
ied at 3771 University Boulevard
five years ago. Later they moved
ay from the section but just
couldn't stay away, and now they're
living at 3402 University. They are
ighty proud of their two little
girls, Yvonne, who is three, and
Dianne, who is one year old.
Harvey takes an active part in
Junior Chamber of Commerce ac-
tivities and is vice chairman of the
Anglo-Latin American Council. He
member of the Industrial Per-
sonnel Association and is re-em-
ployment committeeman for Draft
Board No. 9. During the 1945 Red
Cross drive, he was co-ordinator for
west Harris County.
A good place to look for Harvey
on a Saturday afternoon is in his
woodworking shop, where you will
often find him puttering around.
Turns out some nice jobs, too. He
also likes to draw cartoons and take
pictures. In the line of outdoor
hobbies, he goes in for fishing and
golf.
Born in Houston in 1911, Harvey
attended schools in Bay City and
Houston and then went to the
Houston Junior College. Among the
jobs he has held down in his varied
career were those of Texas Ranger
and combination reporter-photog-
rapher for the Houston Press. He
was in the monument business be-
fore joining the Mosher staff al-
most four years ago.

"linage Of JosephineTarkington
Novel, Praised By Times Reviewer
For those fortunates who can
lazily lounge in a cool nook on
warm afternoons, and for those to
whom "lady luck" was not quite so
kind, but nevertheless blessed with'
leisure evenings, Booth Tarkington
offers an entertaining bit of read-
ing in his "Image of Josephine."
The book is bright, yet written
in the usual convincing Tarkington
style which never borders on bore-
dom.
Josephine, for whom the novel is
named, is characterized throughout
by her strong emotions and their
influence on others. She is a rich
young woman who inherits real
family tradition with an over-dose
of Art thrown in for emphasis and
effect. And, it works. Her spirited
actions unravel a brief plot which
tastes of romance.
The true-to-form hero, Bailey
Fount, is a wounded soldier from
the Pacific who recuperates, not
only in body but in mind, under the
powerful influence of Josephine.
