Pearl Harbor Day will be ob-
served by the newly organized post
of Veterans of Foreign Wars for
the Southwestern section at a
meeting at 8 p. m. Friday in the
Southside club house, according to
H. W. Gillis, Jr., temporary com-
mander.
All veterans who live in the sec-
tion and who have had overseas
duty are invited to attend, Mr.
Gillis said.

Will Entertain Lions Tonight
Members of the West University Lions Club are in for a real treat
tonight when Corporal Eddie, along with Sgt. Chester Le Roy, ven-
triloquist, will entertain them. The team has been applauded by more
than 1,000,000 servicemen at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Mississippi, where
Le Roy, whose real name is Howard M. Olson, was stationed.

West University Lions Club mem-
bers tonight at 7:30 at Bill Wil-
liams Chicken House on South
Main. The regular stag dinner
meeting will offer some additional
unusual entertainment with the
appearance of Corporal Eddie and
his ventriloquist boss, Sgt. Chester
Le Roy, well known to Army Air
Corps men who have been stationed
at Keesler Field in Biloxi, Missis-
sippi.
Eight new members were taken
into the organization at the board
of directors meeting at Bill Wil-
liams' last Thursday. They include:

Awarded Silver Star
Pvt. Pat C. Campbell, nephew of
Mrs. Otis Woodsmall of 6128 Lake,
was awarded the army's Silver
Star posthumously in ceremonies
at Randolph Field last week.
Private Campbell was killed Jan-
iry 8, 1945, when he attempted to
rry a wounded comrade to safety.
