rd to Be Sent
To Europe by CARE
NKW YORK.---A new package
to help meet one of the greatest
single needs of undernourished
European families a 10-pound
package of lard was announced
today by I'aul <\>mly French,
CAfiK executive director.
At the same time, Mr. French
made known that ('ARK was with-
drawing its cotton package. He
explained that this step was in line
with CA|{K'.- policy of responding
to (hanging conditions overseas,
lie -aid that the cotton supply n
urope i.- -le.idily improving and
that production there makes it un-
i:eee arv for ''Al'K to continue
offering it- cotton package.
The new lard parcel is being of-
fered at |5.50 and order* may now
be sent to CARK, 50 Broad atreet.
New York 4, New York, with de-
livery guaranteed in Autrtria, Bel-
gium, Czechoslovakia, France,
Great Britain, Hungary, Italy.
Netherlands, Poland, and the
Americas, British and French
zones of Germany.
For the city of Berlin, the price
of the package has been set at
$fi.50, since CARK in unable to
maintain its customary stockpile
there as a result of the blockade,
and the packages must he flown in
from Frankfort.
CARE's addition of the laid
package is the result of surveys
disclosing that' the lack of fats re-
mains one of Europe's most su-
ious nutrition problems.
