ning. April •!, from 4 to 7 o'clock, in tile west wing of the Mu-
nicipal auditorium. The public is issued a cordial invitation to
attend this eighth annual event, honoring a woman of this city
for some outstanding contriliution to the social growth of the
community. Dr. Howden's work in tile field of education has
extended over 50 years. Her name is synonymous with that of
St. Philip's college, the institution she founded at the turn of
the century. At •">:'!() o'clock there will be a formal presentation
ami brief statements of appreciation.

WORTHWHILE PROJECT
The Belmont Community club lias .just finished six weeks
of instruction in home nursing under the direction of Mrs. Dor-
othy Hamilton Calvin, who is an instructor for the lied Cross.
The class received certificates after a brief program by the
instructor with L'O students completing the course. The six male
members of the class showed special interest in the community
needs and are working side by side with the women, in order
that tliey might help achieve a healthier community. This same
(dub will start a class in first aid in a few weeks under Mrs.
Calvin. All classes are free. The next meeting of the club will
lie held Monday, April 4, at the home of Miss Madie Jackson.

LA PREMIERE SOCIAL CLUB
We failed to make the dance, last Friday night, of the La
Premiere Social club, but we hear that it was till we expected
it to lie. We'll have pictures next week. The next night, the club
entertained Mr. and Mrs. Herman Carr, Mr. and Mrs. Juanito
Maddox, Mr. and Mrs. X. Charles, and Mrs. Alma Silas of Wich-
ita Falls. Texas, with a beautiful cocktail party in the home
of Mrs. Raymond Dixon. 22(1 Brooks street. The centerpiece was
an arrangement of pink gladioli and carnations on a lace covered
table. A variety of tasty hoi's d'oeuvres anil pink champagne
were served. Following cocktails, guests enjoyed dancing.

this city. The marriage took place on Fehriuiry 0. in Seguin. Texas.
The bride is a graduate of lMiillis Wheat ley high selionl. this city,
and Samuel Huston college, Austin. Texas. She is a member of St. Philip's
Episcopal church, and is presently employed by the San Antonio Housing
authority.
Davis is a product of St. Peter academy, and is presently employed

annual Community night at Si. Phil-
