local Race Was
Closest Id County
W hen the last issue of thin
paper went to press, the un-
official figures we had in the
race for Justice of the Peace
in this precinct were 547 for
J. F. McCullough and 540 for
H. W. Law son. We did not
publish these figures, how.
over, as we were not sure that
they were correct.
When the official canvass
was made the vote was shown i
to l>e in line with the unof-j
ticial figures, thus McCul-
lough won with a majority of|
seven, out of a total of nearlv
I,100.
This was therefore the
closest race in the county.

Tosch Restaurant
Closed This Week
For the first time in thirty
years or more, Mesquite has
no restaurant owned by a
Tosch. a- A. F. Tosch lia.-
closed his crfe, stored the
fixtures in the rear <if the \y.
H. Tosch market building, and
will leave soon for sume poin;
in West Texas or New Mexi-
co, taking this step tor the
benefit of his health. Ilis
family will go with him, leav -
ing probably some time next
i week.
; Mr. To-seh started a restau-
] ant here more than thirty
i years ago and has been in the
| business continuously sinc j
that time except during a
period of three years, begin-
ing in 1903. when he sold out
to his brother. Chas. A.
T<'sch, who later sold it back
to him. For a number of
years, his brother. A. F.
Tosch, was associated with|
him but recently he had owned'
and managed the business!
himself though the sign,'
"Tosch Bred.." was n O t
changed.
The exact point to which
they will go has not been
determined, nor have they
made definite plans for the
future.
Move To Locate
Creamery Here
There is a movement on
foot to obtain a creamery and
ice cream factory for Mes-
quite.
The Chamber of Commerce
has appointed a committee
composed of C. C. Chapman,
L. F. Gross and N. A. liolley,
to investigate this matter.
This committee held a confer-
ence with a creamerv r,
who agreed to locate a cream-
ery and ice cream factory
here, provided they v\. e
pledged tlie milk fro-n 1 000
cows.
Th,. establishment of such
business here would provide
the owners of cows a home
mar':et f< r their milk at the
market price—the same as in
Dallas. It would therefore be
a fine thing for the farmers
l of this section, and of course
I a valuald,. asset to the town.
Owners of cows are urged
to get in touch at once with
Mr. Chapman, Mr. Gross
Mr. H« llev.
