Fire Truck Bought
By West University
At Monday Meeting
West Lniversity City Council
Monday night in regular session
increased the city's fire protec-
tion service when it issued an au-
thorization to purchase an addi-
tional fire truck. The new truck
will be the third piece of mobile
fire fighting equipment owned by
the city.
Also authorized to be purchased
by the city was a two-ton truck to
be used in the garbage depart-
ment, a passenger car for the po-
lice department and a second-hand
street roller. Three bids were re-
ceived on the fire truck, a 750-
gallon pumper, ranging in price
from $11,250 to $12,750.
The council voted also to meet
in special session Friday night to
accept the bids for the proposed
construction of storm sewers,
street paving and a bridge across
the drainage ditch on University
Boulevard.
Assessments against property
owners to pay part of the cost of
street paving were discussed at
the Monday meeting.
