ing again - could all this be in-
terfering with my love life? For
the next two weeks I have four
people off on vacation, so I'll
really have to hustle."
From Bomby Bombasaro: "This
darn cold of mine is still hanging
on. I went to see my doctor and
he gave me medicine; so far it
has cost me $32.00, but I am still
hacking away. It was great seeing
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kridner at the
reunion, and I hope they will be
at Myrtle Beach next year. Dick
Henely has lost many, many pou-
nds and looks like a million bucks
and can now get into his uniform
again. Glad that he is feeling
better."
A gold star for Kay - no cig-
arettes for over 5 weeks. A slight-
ly tarnished silver star for George
he's trying, trying, trying.

During the latter part of Aug-
ust, Kay and I visited her sister
in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
We knew that Ray Pieterick liv-
ed right across the river in Eau
Clair, and had a tavern there - so
over we went, and spent the eve-
ning with Ray and his wife visit-
ing and hoisting a few. We hadn't
seen the Pietericks in quite a few
years, because they have been un-
able to get away from business
during the summer months, but
hopefully they might get to anoth-
er reunion within the next few
years. Had such a good time and
picked up Ray's dues and a nice
booster - thanks much Ray. Also
received a booster donation from
Bill Hawkins which we forward-
ed to our secretary thanks Bill.
A letter from Ed Brovic: "Len
Dooley, Bomby Bombasaro, Dun-
can Black and myself are getting
together next Tuesday evening
(Aug. 26th) at the Holiday Inn
in Oak Fair to make plans for
our Midwest Reunion to be held
Feb. 28th and March 1st, 1970.
(Kay and I will be in Florida at
this time, sorry we can't be with
you.)
I'm finally getting caught up
on all the mail I received dur-
ing the days I took off attending
the convention. Prices seem to
be going higher and higher and
some merchandise is still hard
to get. The first week in Sept-
ember I start going to religion
courses again, then during last
week of September I start teach-

We have very little to report
this time. Only one letter all
month. Hope it's just a case of
everyone being real busy writing
old buddies about joining the
Association and not enough time
left over to write in news for
the column!
Calvin and Christine Camp B
Co. write how much they enjoyed
the Cleveland reunion, but also
how disappointing it was not to
have a better turnout for B Co.
Christine was looking forward to
meeting all the gang in person

after seeing them all in pictures.
She hopes the gang will all be
on hand at Myrtle Beach. In or-
der to attend the reunion, they
left their youngest son Anthony
(with the help of a neighbor) in
charge of getting the chickens off
to market. When they returned
home, they found everything well
taken care of. Says they have
now isulated the chicken house
so "that takes care of the year's
profits". They had a phone call
from their married son Ken from
Bancock, Thailand. He's on his
last shuttle, due home around
Sept. 10 and they are real anxious
They visited their third son Gary
shortly after their return home
from the reunion. Gary is station-
ed in Georgia. Says he has a
bachelor's paridise. Has quite a
pad. Flip a switch at the door
as you go in and the stereo goes
on. Turn it down in the living
room and up in the bedroom. On-
ly one of about a dozen modern
conveniences!!! Cal is working on
Harold Wren, Moore in Hunts-
ville, Ala. and another in Jasper,
Ala. and trying to interest them
in the Association.
Glad Cal is doing his part to
build up the 17th. Hope many of
you are doing the same. Harold
Hendricks sent me cards of 35
names of persons removed from
the active file. These names no
longer receive the Hellcat News.
I have written various men in
Hq., A Co., and C Co. for help
in bringing some of these that
are from their company back.
I will shortly be writing to B Co.
men for help also. Many of these
names were names sent in that
received the Hellcat News for a
year free through the booster
funds. I'll be writing to each of
these 35, too.
43rd
TANK
BATTALION
First I would like to thank all
my fine friends for the nice Get
Well card from the 43rd at Re-
union time. It was certainly ap-
preciated and I'm sure aided in
my recovery. From the tone of
the card I am sure all of you
were having a time. This last
period in the hospital has set me
to thinking a lot. It is drawing
close to retirement time and I
believe I am going to see what it
is like to loaf and go fishing
whenever I feel like it. There
are quite a few things yet to do
and I'll be better able to spend
more time doing my 'thing'.
I received a nice letter from
Tony Lamarra in San Jose, Calif.
HQ Co. and he had included a
list of his friends of Army days.
Have written to the one's whose
address were inclosed. He men-
tioned there were quite a few
who were unaware we had an
Association. We shall see what
these letters will accomplish.
This is going to be short, but
I so want to say to our 43rd Gang,
'Thanks a million for the HONOR
of being your Rep again this year.

If you like having a 17th col-
umn each month, drop a line
from time to time and keep the
news coming in. Without it there'll
be no column.
