I was happy to read in the
September HCN where Ed Dim-
ple Cason has paid his dues also
Earl Royer and Darryl Creveling
and of course our OLD 1st Sgt
Elmer Grathwohl. Thanks guys
and we hope that you will continue
to stay a member of this great
Association for a long time to
come, but it would be nice if we did
see you at one of our Biggy
Reunions. So why not plan on
being with us in Orlando, Florida
next year? As I mentioned, we
have one of our old truck drivers
George Troxell who is now a
member and I am sure we will see
George in Orlando next year. I did
drop George a line but I guess he
has writer's cramp, as he did not
say HI, or what ever. Just be
with us next year George. O.K.???
Well I guess Charley Eichenaur
got lost in the shuffle again, so
Charley I hope you will be retired,
not tired, and will join us next year
in Orlando, I am sure that Charley
Frazer and George Dreher will
make it so we should have a whale
of a time, also all you other Sv. Co.
Guys and Gals how about planning
right now and lets do it then, in
case something came up this year
that you could not make it.
Well I guess Harold Reefer's
other ration buddies knew that
he would not make it to Denver
because of his condition halth-
wise, so I hope that it will
all clear up for Orlando Harold,
and maybe if you keep working on
Commando Loftin and the head
hancho of the ration crew Ken Flyr
we can get them to Orlando. Crack
the whip Harold. O.K.???
Well I sure was sorry that the
Executive Council thought it was
too expensive to print a new
Roster, as it would be nice to have
it when you are driving around
and especially now that we have a
lot of new members, also there has
been so many change of addresses,
that it makes it obsolete with the
last roster, that was printed for
our 35th Reunion. We should have
one every two years at least. If we
are so low on funds, which I am
sure we are not and only losing 25
members we should be finacially

able to afford a reprint, so let your
Unit Rep know your feeling on this
matter and maybe if a poll is taken
we can get our Execs to change
their minds. It is a big job to get
things together, I know as I went
that road, when I was Executive-
Secretary, but a Roster sure is a
marvelous item. I would be willing
to pay a small fee for one, just so
we get one on the road, what is
your pleasure???
Well I guess the old Gas Tank
has once again gone empty, so let
us hear from you so we can do
more than ADLIB a column and
get them thar dues in to Norb
Bruemmer, so you can get the best
newspaper of the Armored Divis-
ion Associations, we cannot be
beat believe me. It is your letters
that make it great to read, so once
again DO WRITE, SO WE CAN
WRITE FOR YOU. IT'S GREAT
TO BE A HELLCAT.
One item that is important if I
want you to send me something to
write for our Column and that is an
address, as I am sure most of you
do not have a Roster, sooo here is
my address 12809 N. E. 84th
Street, Kirkland, WA 98033. Help
me to help you have a newsy
Service Company column by send-
ing me something about you and
the family, etc. HOW ABOUT IT,
GUYS?
A COMPANY
On Sept. 30th, Geo. Moss called
to tell me that Hobart Farmer,
because of spells of dizziness, went
to the hospital and had a 'scat-
scans' taken and it showed a brain
tumor. By the time you read this,
he will no doubt be on his way to
recovery. To insure this, Hobart
bought a lifetime membership in
the 12th Armored Div. Assn. We
are all with you Hobart.
Dues from Harold Baldwin,
Serman Double, Donald Parkin
and Erdman Trieber. Dues and
booster from Otha Collins and
from Geo. Moss a comprehensive
report on A Company:
Another month has rolled over
the calendar and my correspond-
ence, even phone calls, have been
quite lacking. Even so we can dig
into the past and conjure up
memories of those valiant men
that we are still Blessed to refer to
as 'bosum buddies' or friends.
Otha 'BOOT' Collins noticed the
reference to Joe Guld of A/714. He
relates that, "Joe Guld joined our
company on the Tennessee maneu-
vers and was made tank comman-
der of tank #5, which included me
and R.C. Campbell plus Ed Drake

and Joe, a buck Sgt. We rarely had
a bow gunner and we went
overseas with a four man crew.
Guld was from Germantown, PA.
He was a very nice guy. Drake and
I were wounded at Herrlisheim
Jan. 15th of '45."
Guld was later killed in action,
and R.C. Campbell and Ed Drake
have since passed away.
Members of A/714 later con-
tacted Guld's Brother who still
lived in the eastern PA area and I
believe I had a report that he had
died also.
Bill Boes also had a few words
regarding the same story in the
Hellcat News. "He was the first
man killed at the "waterworks of
Herrlisheim". He was a religious
kind of guy, a strong Catholic, and
he was hit in the head with an AP
shell. We had been hit and were
getting repairs at Ordnance."
Galdys and I will see you in
Virginia!!!
How many of the Battalion
remember their trip back home by
way of CAMP LUCKY STRIKE in
northern France? The beer party
the A/714 enjoyed and the music
of JOHN CRITZAS and the C/714
men, in the rain yet!! Or the many
'beer parties' that the Officers of
A/714 allowed the men to enjoy, in
Tennessee, in Texas, on maneu-
vers, just good old Yankee enjoy-
ment. Attison and Villalobos (both
deceased) singing 'Begin the Be-
guine' as a duet, one in English and
the other in Spanish.
The next report should tell of
that kind of pleasure, 1984 style,
about our sojourn to YORKTOWN,
VIRGINIA to help the 1st
FRENCH ARMY celebrate. We
should have had a real good visit!!
Plan now for the CHAPTER
MEETINGS that are now sche-
duled for HELLCAT HOOPLA!!!
B COMPANY
No News, but dues from Chester
Buck, Hershel DeHart, Paul Hil-
ley, Elton Samuels and Don Savik.
Dues and booster from Densil
Renick and Charles Fricker who
also sent a note saying he's
semi-retired and on Social Secu-
rity. The wife is still working at
the bank. They keep in touch with
Harry Kettler and just got a letter
from Betty Beckadic. They're
sorry they didn't make the reunion,
but they were there in mind and
spirit. Their granddaughter Doni
had open heart surgery in Febru-
ary, but the good Lord was with
her and it seems like they have a
new granddaughter, as she runs
all over the place now. They send
their best regards to all. Dues and
a note from Merle Loomis, they're
sorry they missed Denver, but
they used all their vacation time in
Alaska.
C COMPANY
Dues from Max Bix and we
welcome a new member, James
Barnes who sent dues and booster
and a note. He met Jackie Boosie
recently and found that her late
husband was Joe Boosie. He hadn't
met many former 'Hellcat' in his
travels around the country during
these many years. He said he
enjoyed reading the Hellcat News
that Jackie had given him and is
looking forward to receiving it
each month and also plans on
making the Orlando reunion. Wel-
come to the fold Jim, its great! C
Company had a great bunch at the
Denver shindig and we plan on
much more in Orlando.
D COMPANY
Helen Henning and Harry Shil-
linger with dues, but no news.
Elden Heusing with dues and a
change of address, it is now Rt. 2,
Box 221 I, Kankakee, 111. 60901.
Also with a new address is Cecil
Coon, it is now 1832 Knox St. Apt.
3, Lincoln, Neb. 68521. Jack Linn
sent dues and a booster and from
Adam Skretkowicz, dues, booster
and a^ note that he and Helen were
sorry they missed Denver, he
would have loved to see his old
buddy Navarrette. Enjoyed the
picture Dethloff sent and said it
sure brought back a lot of mem-
ories and will miss old friend John
Fidorek in who's name he gave the
booster. He will try to make a
couple mini-reunions and defin-
ately Florida. Its great being a
Hellcat!
It is a lot of satisfaction coming
to the completion of a column
when you've had a lot of assistance
with letters and pictures from a
great bunch of people from a truly
great tank battalion! It makes me
feel younger, but I wish it would
last a little longer. After many
years of sharing the same bed, the
wife and I decided on twin beds, it
was then that I started wearing
my hat to bed. I would then throw
it over to her, most of the time she
would throw it right back, but
once in awhile she would bring it
back. Now I can't remember why I
wear my hat to bed! MAY ALL
YOUR HAPPENINGS BE PLEA-
SANT ONES!
