August 1969
MISS HELLKITTEN
714th
TANK
BATTALION
An SOS has been sent out to all
you 'Tankers' of the 714th that
D Day has been designated as
July 31st, location; The PICK-
CARTER Hotel, Cleveland, Ohio.
Now fellas & that means A, B, C,
D, Hqtrs, and Serv. Cos. All Hell-
cats and Hellkittens of the battal-
ion should have all their plans
set for the mass takeover of the
hotel by now. I will make one re-
quest; Please write to Hal Hend-
ricks the Div. Sec. concerning any
information or directly to the hotel
in order to save time and a fast
reply will follow.
Receiving lots of good news and
confirmations from the boys that
will attend the reunion. Many
can't wait for the day they can
see some of their buddies, some
who will be seeing each other for
the first time since the war's
end, and a good many who have
seen each other every year. We
missed Charley Quid and his jolly
Mrs. last year, but we sure are
looking forward to seeing them
again and don't forget the albums
of photos. I'm pretty sure Adam
Beckadic is resting himself pro-
perly for the many trips in and
out of the hotel to replenish sup-
plies for the gab sessions. Of
course we all know he should
leave the task to the serv. and
sup. boys, but then again, they
may get the prescriptions all
fouled up. We are hoping that Ken
Warnes will still make the week-
end, his new work may cause him
to miss the first reunion in many
a moon. Harry Kettler should be
winging again from St. Louis.
(Leave the Hostesses back on the
plane, Harry). I'm sure our 'C'co.
rep and vice pres. Dave Golden
has some new plans set for n3xt
year's reunion. Dave, I hope you
can contact Bill Hurley and get
him to make an appearance in
Cleveland. At this writing. I don't
think Grady Rowell will make this
year's reunion, and I'm of the
opinion that we will all pray for
his speedy recovery. John Clark
and all the boys will sure miss
you Grady. Notes of good cheer
will greatly be appreciated by
him, fellas, he loves us all as does
hir gracious wife. (Nancy says
Grady can't wait to receive the
Hellcat News.)
Hendricks informs the latest
tallies he has, have shown several
increase throughout the Div. units.
The work on acquiring member-
ship increases has a lot of head-
aches, all present members should
strive to aid their BN. Reps by
forwarding all or any addresses
they may have to these reps and
we will surely take care of the
work involved. . . .
Walt Alverman sent in Herb
Kramer's Membership and new
address to Hal; O'LE! I called a
former crew member and finally
made contact, and he too has
signed up as a member. The
name; Bob Biting . . . Max Reed-
er of Mt. Union, Pa. also joined
the clan . . . Received a pleasant
letter from Geo. Moss who has
found time to get around and visit
some of our former buddies. He
tells me he had a wonderful visit
with George Wenrick of Piqua,
Ohio. The visit was most pleasing,
George cooled the tractor off long
enough to chin the fat and fill
Moss in on some data for former
comrades ... He then travelled
to Asheville, Ohio to see my old
buddy Danny (Curley) Morgan.
Dan has a fancy for pussyfooting
around with race horses. After a
few brews, they relaxed into re-
miniscing about old memories and
incidents that our wives somehow
never can seem to have found out
about . . . Then followed a visit
with Fred Hagen, 'Mother' as we
all knew him. There too as before
followed the old feeling of brother-
hood and comradship that exsists
in feelings for each other . . .
While in Washington D.C. on bus-
iness, Moos had the occassion to
call RET, Col. McLaughlin at
Laurel, MD. Mac has informed me
he definitely will be in Cleveland
. . . Mac, remember to bring
along your photo album ... A
reminder to Elton Samuels as
well, bring along your reels of
your trip to our old battle areas,
I know everyone would be inter-
ested in seeing them.
After this writing, our next
issue will be all about the reunion
either by me or my successor, so
for now fellas, keep in touch, God
Bless you all and see you all in
Cleveland.
Always a Buddy,
Stan Sarnocinski

Battalion
Hi Folks, Well this is the last one
around for the current semester.
We are preparing for our de-
parture to Cleveland so Dot has
plenty of work to do. Of course
I'm no help in this deparment. As
you all know I forgot my Jackets
one year resulting in a 534 mile
extra drive plus, all the adjectives
I could think of to enhance a sit-
uation of this type. "We hope
every one is going to Cleveland."
To continue the news about
Russ Blair. Russ has sold his
Flying Service in New Mexico and
returned to work for Page Air-
craft as asst. to the President.
Russ visited Blanchard Leacy in
Benson, Ariz. To quote Russ "He
is great and has a fine family."
Russ won't make Cleveland. He
signed his letter Ex C. 0. Peter
Co. I thought is was "D" Co.?
We have a very nice letter from
Tom and Ruth Schlauch which
went with the picture of Service
Co. Reunion taken in Sept. 1967.
The picture was in the HCN so,
this is the aftermath of a wonder-
ful time for those folks. Ruth
stated the men wouldn't know
where the others were, if it were
not for the wives. Congratulations
Ruth, for the Statement of the
year.' I feel if it were not for the
wives none of us would get out of
bed. We in the association owe a
great vote of thanks to the fine
wives who do most for the cor-
respondence. Tom is Employed
in the propane gas business after
eight years of being tied to his
own Gas station. Tom II age 20
is Jr. in Trenton State College.
Jim 17 is a Jr. in Vocational
School. Alan 9 is in third Majoring
in "Nonsence". Thanks for the
fine letter Ruth. Via Harold, we
received a note from Sy Birnbaum
who saw the Picture mentioned
above and reconized Nick Vitale
(I told you Nick that no one
would notice a change) Sy re-
quested Nick's address. Sy also
stated he enjoys the news tre-
mendously. Thanks to our fine
Editor. We also enjoy reading
about old friends and their fam-
ilies. (Mr. Nick Vi Tale, 37 New-
berry Lane, Levittown, Pa.)
Sherman Rohr Co. "A" hopes to
see someone from his outfit in
Cleveland as he plans to be there.
"All Co. "A" members please
note," and join Sherman. Thanks
for the good wishes Sherman.
We received some bad news
from Nancy Rowell about our
former President Grady. He had a
stroke and was confined for seven
weeks in the hospital. He also has
brain difficulty. Nancy said at
times he is to weak to speak.
Nancy said the Doctor will not
permit him to travel. The Rowells
are at their summer home in
Myrtle Beach, S. C. - "So Folks
let us show our best wishes to
Grady and Nancy by sending a
card for a speedy recovery, to a
fine Hellcat, and his gracious
wife."
So to the Gals, Love and Kisses,
To the Guys, You Know What?

Seeing just about everyone is
on vacation including our printer,
I thought I would just drop a few
lines. This also is the end of our
period for membership and we'll
be starting all over again. Thanks
to all the members for remaining
with the good old 12th, thanks to
all for their generous support as
boosters, you guys have really
come through. For those who have
only been in this year, we hope
that they have enjoyed the Hell-
cat News and will renew their
members,hip. You old timers get
your 4 bucks in the mail as usual.
Always at reunion time there
is quite a bit to write and tell
you folks. Helen and I will be in
Cleveland and sure hope we get
to see many of our old friends.
For now, be good, take care and
God Bless you all. Again, thanks
for everything.
