BIMI No. 2
Offered As Memorian
Will there be a BIMI No. 2? —
Of course there will! The success-
ful competitive campaign exper-
ienced by units in their bid for
BIMI No. I generated so much
action within the association that
a repeat award for the new mem-
bership year is a must. With the
awarding of the first trophy to
the 56th A.I.M. at the Detroit re-
union it would appear that John
Clarke's unit is riding high and
is the target for supremacy in the
year ahead. The competition was
close during the '66-'67 member-
ship year but we have every rea-
son to believe that this stiff com-
petition will continue to exist.
Units are already turning in mem-
bers for the *67-68' year at a
lively pace.
The BIMI trophy is a donated
award. The first, which was don-
ated by the 1st vice president,
was originated by him as a recog.
nition to the unit obtaining the
best increase in membership. He
is now offering the awarding of
the second trophy as a memorian
to the memory of a division mem-
ber to anyone who wishes to don-
ate the cost of the trophy and
engraving. In other words, this
year's trophy will be publicized
and awarded as "BIMI-II,, the
John Doe Memorial Trophy" or
whatever name is to be used.
The earliest postmarked letter
reaching 1st V. P. Bob Saehloff,
28 Dietz Court, Kingston, N. Y.
12401 with a memorian name and
donation guarantee will be the
donor for the '67-'68 membership
year trophy.
DAVE GOLDEN HEAD
"JEEPSTER"
Dave Golden, unit rep for the
714th was elected President of the
Auto Sport Club of America. In
the past I had heard Dave tell of
the speed he got to our reunion
cities and I was under the im-
pression he used our airlines not
express lanes. Good luck and keep
your seat belt fastened.

Fiore D'Alfonso (B) writes
enjoys reading the HELLCAT
NEWS and that he'll be seeing the
gang in Philadelphia in 1968.
John P- Erdan (C) writes that
he contacted Russell Bazin and
Edward Lane and they never knew
we had an Association going.
They are now members. John is
still working for the Chrysler
Corp. and hoping to retire soon
. . . like the rest of us.
Emerson Ezell (A) wrote hop-
ing everyone had a good time at
the reunion and sent his regrets
he couldn't be with us in Detroit.
Welcome back, Joe Mariani
(B). Joe hasn't been active in the
association since 1958. B Com-
pany was one of the largest in
membership in the Ass'n back in
the Fifties and it sure is good to
see it coming to life again. Matter
of fact the I 19th always had the
biggest turnout at reunions. May-
be if we all pitch in together and
send the secretary any names not
listed in the 1968 Roster like
John Erdan did, we can again
reach out former heights.
Gcod old Nick Morgillo (B)
sent a picture of one of our un-
sinkable pontoon bridges that only
the 1 19th could build. Nick is a
sheet metal layout mechanic and
the summer being their busy time
he has to vacation in the winter.
Let me hear from you boys.
Without news we are without a
monthly column.

OWEN "YARDBIRD" YAR-
BOROUGH (A-17): "Tell Finley
and the gang I couldn't make Det-
roit this year. Sure would like to
see the other "yardbirds" again.
CHARLES J. NEHLIG (C-119),
As a hobby, I've been tracing my
family tree. It was very interest-
ing to note they go back to
Alsace. Actually in Domfessel,
Dehlingen, Wilier Beckweiler. I
should have know they were dist-
ant relatives when they sold me
watered down Schnapps . .
