ARDENNES-ALSACE CENTRAL EUROPE
Volume II, No. 12
September 1948
With this issue we arrive at the end of our third year of existence as a
National Association. Two of these years we have attempted to establish, as a
nucleus, the "Hellcat News," for the purpose of continuing contacts with old
friends of our war days, days which brought all of us a comradeship unlike any
that we will perhaps encounter in our future civilian lives. For this reason
alone it is imperative that we do not permit this Association to die the slow
death it very well might, if individually we are not sufficiently interested and
fail to actively participate in its common interests.
CHICAGO CONVENTION: If all goes well, this issue of the paper should reach
your doorstep a day or two prior to your embarking on your trip back to the
renewal of old friendships made at Campbell, Barkely and overseas. There will be
many never-to-be-forgotten incidents brought to life again, along with a few small
headaches from "beaucoup" encounters with our friend "Hellcat Dew." In the end, we
will wonder and be amazed at the rapidity of the passing of two days. It is hoped
that from this reunion a stronger unity for the Association will result and that
in the years to come there will always be a reunion of the 12th Armored Division
at least once a year. Incidentally, Bill Comfort, our very hard working
vice-president, has informed the editor that all members attending the Convention
stop sending in the requested $5.00 for Convention expenses, upon receiving this
issue of the paper.
ASSOCIATION SECRETARY: We wish to bring to the attention of all members
the change in the office of Secretary. Beginning September 5, 1948, John J.
Collins, 714th, and Association cartoonist, will become your new secretary. John
has the approval of the Executive Council and with the intense enthusiasm and
interest shown during the past year will make us an excellent secretary. We have
all enjoyed John's interesting and humorous art creations as published in this
paper during the past year. The present editor-secretary feels that all
members will give John the support during the coming year that has been afforded
him during the past year. As for the office of treasurer, no definite decision
has been made as yet. It is believed that the more members participating in the
activities of the association, the more widespread interest will result. This
item will be more fully discussed at the business meetings to be held at Chicago.
NOTE ! NEW ASSOCIATION HEADQUARTERS ADDRESS—JOHN J. COLLINS, SECRETARY,
THE HELLCAT ASSOCIATION, 12TH ARMORED DIVISION, 21 BRUSHTON AVENUE,
WILKINSBURG 21, PENNSYLVANIA.
