THE HELLCAT NEWS
March 1967
66th INFANTRY QUIZ
1036
92nd Recon Report
First let me say to all of you
northerners, "Wish you were
here." Kay and I are in Tampa,
Florida, no snow or ice, just sun-
shine. Its true that I am not em-
ployed by the Chamber of Comm-
erce, but after hearing of all the
snow storms up north, I'm ready
to sell Florida to all, anyway there
is no snow to shovel down here.
If any of you get down our way,
just look us up in the phone book,
give us a call, and we'll get to-
gether.
I want to compliment Harold
Hendricks, our Executive Secret-
ary, for the fine job he is doing on
our Hellcat News. He is really
putting his heart into making each
issue more interesting.
Bob Saehloff advised me that
our membership standing as of
January 8, 1967 was 82 mem-
bers — this is four short of last
year's total, but we are doing our
best to pass our 1966 member-
ship. Can anyone give me some
help? We got another former
member back into the fold. He is
Samuel I. White of 509 Roland
Drive, Norfolk, Virginia, and he
is with the law firm of Russo,
White and Katherman. We hope
Sam can be with us at the Detroit
reunion.
Brovic and he is busy, as usual,
I finally got a letter from Ed
with his six hardware stores and
also teaches a class in religion to
high school students. Therefore
that is the reason why we don't
hear too often from Ed Brovic, but
he will be at the Aurora reunion
and/will explain further to Bill
Lofkowitz. Also, Ed will see Ray
Pieterich and tell him why he was
unable to get him a particular
fork — seems as though the Nat-
ional Houseware show was can-

m
Test your memory. Can you name these 8 officers of the
66th AIB? William Parker, Lt. Col. Ret. and Floyd Cheatum
will buy you a drink at the HELLCAT BAR at the Statler -
Hilton in Detroit Aug. 3, 4 & 5. (Editors note: I can name two
and I wasn't with the 66th)
wife and their two grandchildren.
They promised to bring up the
children Army.
Worth Stewart has a new ad-
dress; 215 W. Nueces St., Uvalde,
Tex. 78801. He owns a super
market and is still keeping his
hand in the banking business and
has two children in college.
Gail Strang's secretary, Thelma
writes; "We are fine and waiting
for Detroit. Attending reunions is
the only fringe benefit Gail gives
me."
Ted and Flo Putnam will cele-
brate their wedding anniversary
in Detroit. We sure hope Ted's
mother comes along again. She
tells some pretty good stories.
Kenny Ray's daughter Debbie
is graduating from high school in
spite of Kenny helping her with
her homework. She will enter
Robert Morris College, Cathay,
III. this fall to study to be a vet-
erinarian.
Clair Smith wrote he overheard
a couple in Eugene, Oregon: "The
young Miss said to her boyfriend:
'If you think I'm going to wait till
I'm 40, old and wrinkled, fat and
sloppy to get married. Your mis-
taken! . To which the boyfriend
replied. "Boy, if your going to
look like that when your 40, for-
get it."
Come on gang. Let's win that
BIMI for the 134th. Each new
member we can get to join is now
on the plus side. Keep writing.
Keep healthy.

celled due to the burning of the
McCormick building in Chicago,
and that was the place where Ed
was going to fill Rays request.
Note to Edward Mulvihill —
Thanks for sending your dues to
me, I, of course, forwarded your
check to the Secretary. Ed, why
don't you attend the get-together
some of the Hellcats are having
at the Holiday Inn in Aurora?
Sorry I can't attend, inasmuch as
I'll be in Florida until May. Did
Len Dooley retire? He gads around
to much to be a working man.
Message to Wally Majava —
Thanks for your letter and I will
look up Merrill Klussy, an ex-
Hellcat, now living in Guernsey
City just as soon as I can. We are
only about I 5 miles from Guernsey
City, so I'll let you know in the
future if we can get Klussy into
the fold. Let me know if any of
you have any news for our paper.
Sincerely
George W. Dreher

The 134th Reports
Our 21st reunion coming up in
Detroit in August sure sounds
like it's going to be something
"special". All these other units
are threatening to beat us in at-
tendance, but from all the Christ-
mas card reports: We have it in
the bag! Bibbi Quici (714) pro-
mises to make Herb Pinno pay
thru the nose in '67.
Tony and Bernice Rask write
they'll be there. They had a visit
from their son, a Navy Lieut., his
119th Engr. Reports
Guess I'm not very good as a
reporter, but the secretary tells me
to make my report as if it's a let-
ter. Who knows, this late in life
I may find an entirely new vocat.
Charles Falb (C Co.) writes
"he is doing O.K. but his daughter
Linda hasn't been up to par late-
ly." I imagine very few of us
have been fortunate enough to
escape illness in our families, so
Charles will know we are all pull-
ing for Lindas' speedy recovery.
Bill Holt (A Co.) said he heard
from Capt. Cotter and that the
good Captain is going to make
the Detroit reunion, and if he
can make it from Redlands, Calif,
he should make it from Baudette.
Minn. The only thing that kept
Bill from attending the Chicago
reunion was he had the once in
a lifetime honor of being appoint-
ed General Chairman of the In-
ternational Sail.ng Regatta on the
Lake of the Woods.
Bob Salisbury (Bn. Hq.) said
when he read in the HELLCAT
NEWS that Si Norris (C Co.) was
in Vietnam protecting us, he knew
the situation was well in hand
and we all could relax.
Paul Moon (Hq) is wondering
if any of the gang will attend the
Illinois get-to-gether in Aurora
this February.
Ruth Dillon dropped a line for
Tony (A Co.). He's busy teach-
ing at the Long Branch Vocat-
ional High School in New Jersey.
Tony has three daughters and is
a grandfather and they'll make
every effort to see the gang in
Detroit. (We missed you in Chi-
cago.)
James Finley (C Co.) and
Robert Annis (B Co.) write they
are both doing fine and are in
good health. Noticed Bob has a
new address: 120 West 1st St.,
Juneau, Alaska 99801.
Joe Jean (B Co.) we of course
expect to see this August in Det-
roit. He lives in Michigan. For
some of you the trip may be more
than a few hundred miles, but
try . . . you'll enjoy every minute
of it.
