Careful and throughtful market-
ing has brought Neison to this
point where he can brag about the
growth of his hotel. Three years
ago, Neison came to the Holiday
Inn as manager and it was then
the real work began.
"We've been planning for this
for the last three years," he
explained.
The renovations began in
August. Plans call for an
additional 4,000-square-feet enclo-
ser between the banquet rooms
and the poolside.
"The Holidome and the (added)
enclosure is useful for trade
shows, cocktail parties...we're
pulling people from the Chicago
area," he said.
Specifically, the target area is
not only in Kankakee and Will
counties, but Chicago's south
suburbs, as well. Eighteen week-
end packages were, sold during
the first week of offerings and
Neison hopes to capitalize on
more $49.95 two night-one day
deals.
Rates are also for $89.95 per
couple for three days and two
nights.
Rooms have also been renovat-
ed as part of the effort to up-
grade the hotel. "Cabana" rooms
and other specialty rooms are
available.
Business travelers count for
much of the occupancy during the
week, Neison said. "We do a fair
amount of conferences," he added,
but the key marketing thrust is to
the weekend travelers.
"Now we think we can com-
pete with some of those Chicago
hotels."
Ken Hulse and Forrest Smith,
the host for this years Midwest
meeting also announce 'The Sh-
ades of Blue", the band, will be
playing at the Saturday evening
dinner-dance.

Hi Folks:
You want to hear a good one
(Joke, that is, on me) I got a letter
from our Exe. Sec. last month and
he told me that I had a finished
the column with a statement that
didn't refer to anything else in the
report so he added what he
thought I was refering to. When I
read his letter to me, I thought
"hey, this guy has to be kidding."
I'd put everything away for the
Holidays so it took a few hours
before I found my copy of the
report. And guess what? I didn't
send Ken a whole page! Thanks to
your Exe. Sec. you know what I
wanted you to. So on to the rest
of the news and I'll include the
page from last time and let you
guess what part of this report was
missing from the last one.
This is from the desk of Morton
Jaffe (Hq)...I have appreciated
your letters & hope this note finds
you in better health Charlie. I
have to write with my left hand,
I'm right handed but it is effected
by MS. The MS has effected my
legs, I can't stand or walk now.
I'm in a wheelchair all the time
also sleep in a chair. Am sending a
picture of me and my wife in 1980.
I am fortunate to have good
health otherwise. I'm 65 now and
will be married 39 years in April
1982. Have wanted to make a
reunion, but have had MS for way
over 20 years. When I see some
people whose mind is affected I
feel that I am in better shape.
Ralph Walsh (hq) and my family
have visited & phoned each other
on a number of occasions. He is
retiring after 45 yrs. with his
Company. My youngest son is age
30, my daughter is 36 (looks like
in her 20's) married and I have 2
grandsons. My son in California &
daughter-in-law have given me a
granddaughter. I received good
news a few weeks ago. I started a
remission (seldom does it go all
the way) takes a number of years.
Jim Atherton called right after
I sent in the last report. He was
home from the Hospital for awhile
