Ray and Evelyn Grim and their
son, Jeff, stopped at the Bradstreet
homestead on their way home from
visiting their daughter, who lives
just 70 miles from Emporia. We
had an enjoyable afternoon and the
time passed all too quickly.
Just received dues and news from
Don Coombes, B-119. He enclosed a
booster and says "Well, I missed
a chance, the reunion will never be
that close to So. Dakota again."
Don and Delores have a 24 hour
cafe in Watertown called the
Double D, so it is never too early
or too late for Hellcats to drop in
and say howdy. Their three daugh-
ters are now grown and married.
Don still is in the boxing game,
and helps coach a team in the
Watertown Boys Club. Don says he
gets Christmas cards from some of
the B battery gang, but would like
to hear from them all.
Hellcat News 30 March 1944; Cpl.
Donald Coombes, the Hellcats pow-
erpunchng lightheavy pounded out
a clean decision over Jose Vasques,
the former bull fighter from Mexico
City. The fight was a rather caut-
ious one as both boys had plenty
of respect for each other. However
Coombes managed to score the
heaviest punches in close for the
decision.
Remember when Don fought the
exhibition match with Billy Conn?
Dues from Hoyt Counts and Atha
Kie of A, John Davis Hq. C'mon
guys get those dues in and get the
HCN so that you do not get be-
hind on the news of your buddies.
Where else can you get so much for
four bucks?
Ray Plummer, A-494, wrote and
expressed his disappointment for
not making the reunion. He was
not able to get off work to attend,
so he called and talked to the
folks of A battery. We enjoyed talk-
ing to you, Ray, and Hope to see
you in Rochester. Ray is employed
as a Security guard for K Mart in
Lafayette, Ind.
Received a letter from Harold
and Josephine Smith, Hq. battery.
They are the fine folks down in
Hickory, N. C„ who are working so
hard to get Headquarters Battery

Hello Hellcats and Hellkittens of
the 494th.
Another month has rolled by, and
here we are again. The mail has
not been overwhelming, but it has
been steady. Please help me in my
drive to keep my mailman out of
the coffee shop and on the job. He
needs the exercise and it gives him
a feeling of being on vacation as
he reads the return addresses. He
also gets a feeling of belonging as
he reads each card before deposit-
ing it in our mailbox. Please, 494,
don't break my mailman's heart,
write to me!

back together again. Now, all you
Hq. men and women write to Har-
old and Jo and give them a hand
with the job, you will not regret
it, the pleasure at the next reunion
will be all yours.
Sure would like to hear from
some of you members of Service,
B, C, and the Medical Detachment,
let us help you get your buddies
in contact with each other again
and renew old friendships. You can-
not possibly go wrong, think about
it, then act, action speak louder
than words.

Weber and Sgt. Harren have coll-
aborated on an original idea for a
plaque and already have taken
numerous orders for copies. It is
an attractive piece of wood carving
with a 12 Armored insignia and
crossed cannons inscribed. The
finish is complete to a glossy wax-
ed coating and presents a very
pleasing appearance.
Announcing the arrival of a new
little HelIkitten in the Bradstreet
family. She is Amy Lynn Bradstreet,
born October 11th. Her parents are
Larry and Sandra Bradstreet, and
the proud grandparents are Ruth
and Ken Bradstreet of A battery.
Amy weighed 7 pounds and was 19
inches long at birth. Beth is very
happy with her new sister.
Here is an address change for
Rev. James Bartz of A battery, he
now resides at 2222 Russell Ave.,
Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001.
T. K. Clement of A battery has
some sets of pictures taken at the
reunion that he is offering to those
who wish to purchase them at the
price of $6.00 per set. The pictures
are well worth the chips.
Headquarters has jumped up over
their last years membership and
are going all out to increase it
more. Congratulations, everyone get
into the action and keep up the
good work.

says that Weldon still is not a
writer. The news from Texas as she
put it is that cow prices are down,
car costs are up and it is putting
the squeeze on them from both
sides. Daughter Janis is in college
at TCU. Son John and his wife
Rosalind are in the Army at Home-
stead, Fla. She goes even further
and says that if we come to Texas,
they will buy a keg of beer, barbe-
cue a cow and talk about old times.
In Sarah's words "The invitation
is sincere. You guys that got smart
and have a months vacaton a year,
or are retired, come to Texas. We
have five empty beds, and acres of
pallet space."
Hope to see you all next month,
same time, same space, same
place, in the Hellcat News.
TERSE VERSE
Twas the day after Christmas,
And all through my clothes,
I hunted for money
To pay what I owe$.
Not a dollar was stirring,
Not even two bits.
My money has left me;
My credit is quits.
Forward, turn forward
O time in thy flight.
And make it past Christmas
And my dollar plight.
This is inflation, I earn $7.00 an
hour. My wife spends $7.00 a min-
ute.
