PRESIDENTS
REPORT
Each issue of the HCN brings
welcome news of old buddies
joining the 12th ADA for the
first time. In the June issue
report on the Eastern chapter
meeting, word was that 35 firsl
timers attended. Imagine my
surprise when I arrived home
from the Eastern to walk into
my house and have my wife
inform me that another first
timer was on the phone at that
very time.
Needless to say, Bill Funke
who was the Hellcat on the
other end of the wire, was as
excited as I was and we imme-
diately made plans to get to-
gether later in the week when
Bill would be driving through
Nebraska. Bill was disappointed
to learn that the national reun-
ion was held in Denver last
year, only a couple of hours
from his home and he was
completely unaware of it.
Bill and I spent several hours
later in the week catching up on
the years and making sure that
Bill doesn't lose track of the
12th again. We expect to see
him and his wife in Emporia at
the Bradstreet picnic and in
Orlando in September.
Howie and Mary Toms of
Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey
are looking for a 12th Armored
desgin to use in connection with
their personalized HELCAT lic-
ense plate. Can anyone of you
artists help them? Any one with
an idea please write to them at
P O Box 174, zip 08734.
If you haven't sent in your
reservation for Orlando - do it
now! Time is short and we need
to complete plans for the 40th
anniversary celebration. This
could be our last chance to have
a record turnout BUT we need
your help to do it! Make your
reservation at the Americana
Dutch Hotel and send in your
registration using the forms
provided in this issue of the
HCN.
See you all in Orlando ....

THE LITTLE
12th PICNIC
The May 18th picnic on the
Maue farm went off in good
fashion and the rainy, cool
weather did not dampen the
spirits, or spoil any of the good
time for the 60 Hellcats, Hel-
lkittens, and guests who gath-
ered there for conversation,
cards, food and refreshments.
The food was in abundance,
and when the Hellkittens
spread it out on the large table,
it looked fit for a king. It didn't
take long for the chow hounds
to line up and fill their plates
with the tasty delights which
ranged from the various meats
and vegetables, to the yummy
desserts. And as seems to hap-
pen every year, Fern Bruemmer
discovered Edna Maue's fresh
baked raspberry pie and cut
into it. All in all, there was
more than everyone could eat,
but host Warren Maue reports
with glee that there was very
little left over, for which he was
thankful since he is having
trouble keeping his weight
down.
Three couples attended for
the first time (refer to the 17th
Unit Column) and it is hoped
that with the newly established
friendships, they will come
back in future years, and per-
haps participate in chapter
meetings and annual reunions.
Our thanks to Warren and
Memorial Services for
Col. James W. Logan
C.O. of the 17th A.I.B.
Bill Logan, son of deceased
Col. James W. Logan (17th
AIB), called Service Officer Fred
"Mike" Gorman to inform him
that a memorial service will be
held at the Logan Ranch located
at 856 Burnt Ridge Road, On-
alaska, WA 98570, at 1300 hours
July 14th, 1985.
Mike Gorman phoned your
Hellcat News Editor the evening
of Friday, June 14th requesting
that an article be placed in the
Hellcat News inviting Hellcats
to participate in the memorial
service. Unfortunately, this not-
ification will be too late for
those living a great distance
from the state of Washington,
but perhaps it may reach those
in close proximity.
We were also informed that
Col. Logan's wife died in the
month of May, 1985, approxi-
mately a month after his death.
Co. Logan's obituary appeared
in the June '85 issue of Hellcat
News.
Edna Maue for arranging the
picnic, and providing their love-
ly farm home for this gathering
of buddies of old and their
wives and/or guests. With this
devotion and loyalty, is it any
wonder that our 12th Armored
Division Association has flour-
ished and prospered all these
years? As Warren Maue would
say "Next year, same time,
same place."

A MESSAGE FROM
YOUR REUNION
CHAIRMAN
Fellow Hellcats and Hellkit-
tens: Just returned from a few
weeks of annual vacation and
found lots of pre-registration
forms and checks waiting to be
processed - lets keep them com-
ing so we can make this one of
the best reunions yet.
Early pre-registration makes
things easier all around. We can
have all necessary packages
made up in advance and you
have no long lines to stand in.
We have been running into
three problesm so far:
(1) Please check your figures
on your pre-registration forms
and make sure that they total
the same amount as is on your
check.
(2) The registration fee of
$5.00 PER PERSON isn't
being included on many of your
pre-registration forms, even
though you indicate that 2 will
be attending, as you know this
fee helps pay for all the incid-
entals that make your annual
reunions enjoyable.
(3) Please, when sending
your Hotel reservation forms to
the Hotel make your checks
payable to the Hotel not to the
12th Armored Div. or to me.
The checks sent to me with
your reunion pre-registration
forms should be made out to the
12th Armored Div., not to me.
Hope you're all having a good
summer and we're looking for-
ward to hearing from lots more
Hellcats that they will be join-
ing us in Orlando Sept. 19, 20 &
21, 1985 for a "GREAT, FUN
IN THE SUN" REUNION.
Regards to all
Edward J. Buscavage
Reunion Chairman
Editor's Note: We have re-
ceived inquiries from members
about transportation and fares
from the Airport to the Ameri-
cana Dutch Resort Hotel. The
following information is record-

ision Association's publication
(they are holding their reunion
at the same hotel the early part
of September):
