EDITOR'S CORNER
Last month there was a brief
comment about the possibility
of an updated membership ros-
ter. After much correspondence,
we were able to place some
financial figures before the Ex-
ecutive Council in the form of a
mail ballot. These are coming
back to your Secretary, and
while all have not yet been
returned, we do have sufficient
approvals to assure the appro-
priation of funds for this project.
Thus, we will proceed with
the preparatory work to pull the
roster together. Hopefully, we
will have it printed and ready
for circulation to the member-
ship prior to the reunion this
September.
The last roster was printed in
1981, and is now obsolete due to
deaths, address changes, new
memberships, etc. Additionally,
we had run out of copies of the
'81 roster to send to new mem-
bers joining our association. So,
please bear with us for a few
months, and we will have the
new roster coming your way
(with no cost to you).
We think the new roster will
be must improved over those
issued in the past. However, it
is still too early to divulge the
roster make-up, so will leave
those details for a later date.
The important thing is that we
have the okay to proceed and
while the roster update will be a
lot of additional work, it is our
thinking that it is overdue, and
we will proceed post-haste with
its preparation.

Much has been said about the
upcoming reunion in Orlando
(Lake Buena Vista) Florida
September 19 to 21,1985, so will
not bore you with a lot of baly-
hoo. Just a few words to explain
the Chairman's position in try-
ing to pull such a big event

NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICES
IN THE ASSOCIATION
With the Reunion just two
months away, we remind you of
the important function of elec-
tion of officers to administer
your association for the year
85/86. As members of this
association, you have the right
to choose capable candidates
for these important assign-
ments, and thus assure the con-
tinued progress of the 12th Arm-
ored Division Association.
If you have a candidate in
mind for any office, first be sure
that he is willing to accept the
nomination if it is offered to
him. Then, send your candid-
ate's name, address, and unit
affiliation to: Vic Challen, Nom-
inating Committee Chairman,
11127 Weston Road, Weston OH
43569, stating that you have
contacted the candidate and he
is willing to accept the nomina-
tion if offered. Also give your
reason for selecting the individ-
ual.
The following offices in the
association will be up for elec-
tion at the Orlando Reunion:
President, 1st Vice-Presid-
ent, 2nd Vice-President, Trea-
surer and Director-at-Large
(one to be elected)
Additionally, two (of the five)
Unit Directors will be elected
for a two year term to represent
the Infantry and Artillery Bat-
talions on the Executive Coun-
cil. However, these directors
will be chosen by the newly
elected Unit Representatives,
who designate these directors
from among their ranks.

together.
Each year we hear from cer-
tain members who complain
about the number of tours, stat-
ing they interefere with the talk
sessions and get-togethers of
buddies during the reunion. As
you know, the reunion is put
together for the total member-
ship, and that consists of a lot
of people with a lot of different
tastes and preferences. Thus,
the tours are offered for the
purpose of having something
for everyone. There is no pres-
sure placed on anyone to go on
the tours. That is an individual
decision. So, if you are one of
those who prefers to just shoot
the bull with your buddies, that
is your priviledge, and there are
usually plenty of them around
to accomplish this task. Those
who prefer to go on the tours, do
so of their own volition, and
that is their priviledge.
The only tour being offered
this year is the Wednesday
Night trip to Rosie O'Grady's
which is for those arriving early
(before the reunion start date).
Thus, this one-night stand will
in no way interfere with social
get-togethers during the re-
union.
There are a lot of attractions
in the area (Disney World, Sea
World, and EPCOT) which may
be visited. But, hopefully, the
visits to those attractions will
precede or follow the reunion
dates. But then, there may be
some who are still employed,
who have limited time availa-
ble for the trip to Florida, and
for them it may be necessary to
crowd these attractions into the
time frame of our reunion and
that is understandable. When
one spends the money for tra-
veling a long distance, they
want to see and do everything
while they are at their des-
tination.
In any event, it is our hope
that we have the usually large
