Jerome Drive, Godfrey, IL 62035-1506. Alto, CA.
We give these two Gentlemen
a Hearty Hellcat Welcome.
We are pleased to announce
that two of our Group members
have opted to join that elite list
of 'liftetimers' and we give
them a hearty welcome into
this growing roster of life-
timers. Woody Shuster (Div
Tns) becomes No. 409 and John
Pohl (Div Hq/CCA) who re-
quested and has received No.
413 on the list.
Our first bit of news comes
from Henry Whitlow (Div Hq/
CCA) who sends dues, adds a
nice booster and writes ... In
September Bill Cooper, Ellery
Likens, Clarence "Bronc" Sab-
rowsky, our spouses and I were
invited to the home of Brendan
"Doc" Phibbs and his wife
Liana in Jackson Hole, Wyom-
ing for a four day reunion.
Their spacious home looked out
upon the Grand Tetons and the
other incomparable scenery.
Doc knew the area and took us
to his favorite fishing holes and
other interesting places. The
Phibbs were splendid hosts. We
refought and won the war from
the vantage point of CCB. It
was agreed that we were forty
years too late in having this
reunion and vowed to have
another before the next forty
years.
Joseph Kasso (Div Tns) sends
Season's Greetings and a note
telling us that he enjoyed see-
ing the picture of Art Medley
and the other Div Trains men
at Louisville that appeared in
a recent issue of the Hellcat
News. He sends his best to Art
and further states that the pic-
ture of him and the rest of the
men look real nice, and sends a
Hi to them all. Joe still does
his body-building exercises and
boxing workouts and is in three
times better shape now than
when he fought in the ring. Joe
reveals an experience that
occured during the Colmar
operation that through the
guidance of Jesus while being
shelled that night, saved his
and Art Medley's life.
George Stalker (Div Hq/CCA)
with dues, booster and a note
stating that while looking over
the December issue of the HCN
on page 14, he recognized his
picture as one of the troops on
furlough in Paris. He adds ... I
am directly behind Herman
Schmidtke in what I would call
the second row. Thought you
might be interested after more
than forty years.
Robert Roe (Div Hq) with
dues and writes that it was
wonderful to learn that Charles
Danton on page 3 of the Jan.
'88 HCN remembered his Com-
pany Commander after about
43 years and certainly appre-
ciate his comments. Thank you,
Charles. I have a book we had
made while still in Heidenheim
after the war. It has pictures of
almost everyone who were in
the Div Hq Co and the enlisted
men in Div. Hq. It also has
their addresses of 45 years ago.
It is the only copy I have and
value it tremendously. Bob
offers the group a loan of the
book to see if any of the mater-
ial can be worked into the
HCN. He would love to hear
from any of the men who were
in the company at that time
and is looking forward to hear-
ing from any.
Art Sweeney (Div Tns) sends
along his dues, adds a neat
booster and writes that he just
received his January issue of
the HCN and discovered that
he was reading a 'bootleg' copy
and regrets the oversight. He
adds . . . Just a bit of news
about my son Joe. He was pro-
moted to First Lieutenant last
April and recently served as
Company Commander of Tank
Co. C. (Are you reading Cap-
tain Mac??)
Donald Mclntyre (Divarty)
renews membership and writes
. . . Just a few lines to let my
old buddies and friends of
Divarty and the 493rd, 494th
and 495th AFA Bns know that
all is fine here in Minnesota.
Have been enjoying retirement
for five years now. I take one
day at a time. Heard from Ber-
nie Deaton from Divarty by
phone Christmas Eve. I aso
heard from our Divarty C.O.
He is 93 years young and he
also is doing fine. He is Col.
Charles R. Gildart now living
in San Diego, California. I wish
all my friends the very best and
a very good New Year and this
includes all the 12th A. D.
Association members.
Art Medley (Div Tns) informs
us that he is relocating for the
winter and will be spending it
in Florida. His change of
address will be noted elsewhere
in the HCN.
Joseph "Chick" Cinccolilla
(Div Tns) with dues and a short
and sweet . . . Happy and safe
holidays to all.
Lorlan Korth (Div Hq) sends
dues, booster and includes a
