seems to keep our energy at a
high level. We are still enjoy-
ing square and round dancing
and spend as much time as
possible on our bikes. Had a
fall vacation that included see-
ing the spectacular beauty of
the Blue Ridge Mountains, the
Great Smokies and the Ozarks
- colors and foliage that defied
description and yet when we
headed north and got back to
the unique beauty of the prair-
ies of our midwest, we both
agreed nothing could surpass
that.
Wish we could have joined
all of you for the reunion in
Louisville but are really plan-
ning on being with all you good
buddies come the reunion in
August in Kansas City.
Hope you have a fantabulous
1988 filled with all kinds of
good, exciting and fun things
are your paths will be lighted
with peace, contentment, fellow-
ship and most of all - love. See
you in Kansas City."
We need this positive ap-
proach because too many noti-
ces like the following are com-
ing in. Another Hellcat who
was not an association mem-
ber has passed on in May of
1987. He was with Division
Trains at Campbell and then
with the 17th in Europe.
Another thing that is amaz-
ing is the work of Paul Hemp-
fling. Can you believe that he
sent another name for you guys
to go after. Here is another lost
Hellcat that saw about the
association in a V.F.W. Maga-
zine. If he took the time to
inquire then we need to take
the time and write to him, o.k.?
Write to John L. Micetic , Sv,
1467 Meegan Way - 102, Elk
Grove Village, Illinois 60007.
Been wondering about Bucky
Walter Sv? Well, he retired from
K-Mart Distribution Center in
Fort Wayne, IN after 34 years
of service. That's a lot of Blue
Light Specials Bucky. He is a
man of taste since he says he
still is doing some music gigs.
He says that he might make it
to K.C. That isn't good enough
Bucky. Say "I will make it."
Oh oh, I almost forgot. Here
is another name from the past
for you to contact and tell about
our organization. Waiting to
hear from you is Glen W.
Fowler, 305 West Main Street,
Manchester, Georgia 31816.
Ralph Smock has been try-

his brother's navy things to the
museum in Fredricksburg,
Texas. I hope that I can secure
a map of the Twelfth's fighting
in Europe during WW II. Paul
Hempfling said they were not
available at the 1987 conven-
tion. Thanks for your thought-
fulness."
Paul Moore, Hq. sent a clip-
ping telling about the passing
of Dewey Isom of Hq. I don't
believe that he was an associa-
tion member but he was one of
our comrades so I am sure that
his widow Beulah K. Isom of
503 S. 5th St., Cambridge City,
IN 49327 would appreciate a
communication from you.
Isn't it great to be around
people who have positive feel-
ings about life? Since coming
into the 12th association I have
been amazed at the exciting,
forward looking, positive Hel-
lcats and Hellkittens Lola and
I have met. To prove this point
here is a letter from Bob and
Evelyn Cooper, Hq.
"Hi - Just a few lines to tuck
in with our dues for the year -
sorry we didn't get them sent
sooner but the holiday frenzy
seemed to have taken over.
Bob and I are both enjoying
excellent health - both are still
running - Bob competed in sev-
eral 10 kilometer (6.2 miles)
road races this summer and did
well - I still stick to my 5:00
AM runs of 6+ miles several
mornings a week. Running

ing to get with Elmer Steffy to
show him the video that George
Hatt produced. Ralph went to a
Tom Mix festival in DuBois,
PA expecting to hear Western
music but he got stuck with
Rock. Well, Ralph, I guess you
are going to have to learn to
Boogie with the kids. He also
told about one of his friends
running into an A 17 man,
Stanley Resh, at a cafe in Wil-
liamsburg, VA.
We reported the death of Ray-
mond Heath earlier and then
asked for more information.
Here it is from Bill Hawkins of
92 Recon.
"Raymond and his wife were
from Kingwood, West Virginia
and resided also in Trailer
Estates Mobile Home Park in
Bradenton, FL, where we used
to live. He was a member for a
short while but for some rea-
son or other he did not care to
continue his membership.
Ray was with 17C. I had
Warren Maue to his home here
in Florida when we signed him
up. Mrs. Heath's name is Ed-
wina Heath, 1803 Minnesota
Avenue, P.O. Box 6027, Trailer
Estates, Florida 34281." (Cor-
rect address is in the "obits" of
the January HCN, Ed.)
Warren Maue sends along a
lot of information that he re-
ceives from his friends, and
because he has a "ton" of them
you can guess how much news
comes his way.
"Helen and Johnny Shibley,
we hope too that '88 will see
you in good health again so
that you can show up at K.C.
Helen has had some infections
that caused some heart prob-
lems but she seems to be on the
mend, and John joins the sick
call with some bursitis.
You buddies of Vern Sylves-
ter will be pleased to know that
he is living up to the 12th pass-
word "Speed" and has let no
grass grow under his feet the
past year. He was in Arizona,
North Dakota, and England,
What did he do? Well, he had a
lens implant on both eyes - and
then - can you believe he was
married in October to a long
time qcquaintance. Way-to-go-
Vern. This just proves what I
have said before. There is a lot
of fire in these Hellcats. The
lucky lady's name is Ruth.
They are living in Aberdeen,
Washington when they are not
in Arizona. Now look you
"young whipper." We expect
you to bring Ruth to Kansas
City so we can meet her. Might
even have a party.
Clair and Ruth Mummert are
among those who have made
plans for the K.C. meeting.
They have said that no matter
how much work they had to do,
it would not keep them from
the reunions. Now, how about
some of you who haven't shown
up for awhile adopt that same
attitude.
What the heck men. Claire
wrote such a nice letter I
shouldn't keep it to myself.
"After leaving Louisville we
stopped off in Charleston, W. V.
to visit Dick and Ollie May
Nichols. They are our friends
from the 92 Ren. and he had
the heart attack while attend-
ing the eastern chapter gather-
ing in Harrisburg this spring.
He was doing real well and
later this year they attended
