Any change in the amount of membership dues can cause a lot of questions in the minds of the
members. This, the following information and statistics are presented to possibly clear up such
questions, and clarify the reasoning and need for this dues incurease:
As of the end of the year 1985, we had a cash balance of $78,688.43
Included in this balance were the following advance payments:
Lifetime Memberships (this fund must be reserved to fulfill the
membership obligations in all future years) $20,400.00
Annual dues paid for 86/87 and future years 2,268.25
Total Advance Payments 22,668.25
Cash Balance (excluding advance payments) $56,020.18
ANTICIPATED EXPENSES - Year 1986:
Executive Secretary's fees $ 2,400.00
Hellcat News (Printing, Addressing, and Mailing) 27,388.00
Admin. Expenses (Office supplies, postage, etc.) 1,640.00
Historian Expenses 400.00
12th AD Obelisk and Plaques - Ft. Knox Memorial Park 2,500.00
Additional Contingencies 1,000.00
Total Anticipated Expenses 35,328.00
Anticipated Cash Balance as of January 1, 1987 $20,692.18*
(* Excludes interest earnings for the year 1986, which are difficult to
estimate due to the ever changing rates of interest.)
Comments: The membership report published on page 19 of the February issue of Hellcat
News shows a total of 2715 regular members (excl. lifetimers) as of 12/31/85. If every one of these
members paid their $10.00 membership fee, we would receive $27,150.00, which is less than the
anticipated cost of publishing our Hellcat News. And, we know that each year, we have a number of
our members who do not pay their dues. Fortunately, there are sufficient members who generously
contribute boosters to take up the slack. We feel confident that most of these contributions, over and
above the dues amount, will continue in future years. But, to what extent? If we set our dues amount
below our anticipated expenses, and the additional contributions did not arrive, we would deplete our
funds and be in critical financial shape.
Another factor to be taken into consideration is that as time progresses, our regular
memberships will be declining, while the associate memberships (widows of deceased members) will
be increasing. Over a period of time, this could create an imbalance, which would require either
asking the widows to pay dues or the discontinuance of their Hellcat News, and we're sure that our
membership would never allow this to happen.
We sincerely hope that the above explanation will resolve any concerns you may have
regarding the increase in membership dues. The last dues increase (from $5.00 to $7.50) was enacted
by the Council in their Rochester, NY meeting in 1981. So, considering the price increases that have
taken place since that time, the present increase of $2.50 is very nominal and will not cause
hardships on any member of our association.
If, after reviewing this article, you have additional questions, please do not hesitate
to drop a line to your Secretary.
Respectfully submitted
/s/Norbert H. Bruemmer, Exec. Sec'y.

In the October 1985 issue of
the Hellcat News we passed on
the word that Albert H. Lysin-
ger II, son of Albert and
La Verne Lysinger (Div Hq) had
passed away. This information
was forwarded to us via Fran-
cis Roby (17 AIB) and his Unit
Rep. Warren Maue.
Just recently we received dues
payment from A1 and LaVerne
plus an accompanying letter
detailing their son's death.
Writing from Louisville, KY,
they state . . . "We wish to
inform you of the death of our
only son Albert "Chip" Lysin-
ger II on July 19th 1985, age 31
years. He died from burns over
90% of his body from an explo-
sion at the Borden Chemical
Co. on July 18th. He was there
at the time to make one crane
lift, as we did crane work for
the company and Chip always
operated the crane. It was one
of his pride and joys. He came
into the company to take over
the business so his dad would
be ready to retire at 65 and also
to take over my duties so I could
spend more time with our daugh-
ter who has had Lou Gehrig
Disease for the past 5Vi years.
He lived and remained con-
scious for 32 hours after the
explosion and we did get to see
and talk to him. He knew our
voices. We and his wife were
with him when he died. It would
be impossible to describe the
way he was and to this day, we
can't get out of the burn unit
and remember him as he was.
They say time will help but so
far it only gets worse. He also
left a four year old son, Sean.
We still have our daughter with
us but for how long, only God
has the answer. 1985 was the
greatest loss of our life and 1986
doesn't look any better. Please
remember us in your prayers.
I'm sure all of us will remem-
ber Al, LaVerne and their
daughter in our prayers and
