THE MENACE OF PERJURY
"Tiny" Fowler says he often won-
ders what has become of the old-
fashioned man who used to come to
town to tell about seeing a belled
buzzard.
Perjury has been called the most
serious of modern obstacles in the
path of justice. Any close observer
is forced to admit that there is good
reasons to believe it a menace which
is rapidly increasing.
A glaring incidence of perjury was
! uncovered in Kentucky, when a young
woman pleaded guilty to having tes-
tified fal.-el'y that she had seen a man
murder a girl. The man was sen- sip that i
tented to life imprisonment on the
strength of her testimony and under-
went mor" than a vear of servitude.
