Hadley Roberts informs us
that lie has just traded for a
v ' bunch of Polle-Angus cattle,
consisting of one bull and
eleven cows. These cattle
came from the Nelse Morris
ranch near Midland, and are
said to be the best of their
kind in this section.
Later,—The cattle were re-
ceived here yesterday. They
are beauties.
Bob Porter was in town yes-
terday for the first time in
about three months. He is
r just up from a severe attack of

Miss Emma Rose visited her
parents at Cisco last Saturday
and Sunday.

News will be charged for at
the rate of 5 cents per line to
patrons running a standing
advertisement. To others the
rate of 10 cents per line for
first insertion and 5 cents per
line for each subsequent inser-
tion. This matter will be set
in our regular reading type.
All locals will run until ordered
out, if a stated time is not
given when contracted for.
Dr. W. F. Bay less of Ranger,
Texas, spent last Saturday in
Albany, the guest of Dr. Casey.
These gentlemen were old
acquaintances in Arkansas.
Dr. Bayless was at one time
editor and proprietor of the
Ranger Success. He had been
out West to look at some land
in which he has an interest.
Mrs. G. A. Howsley and
children went to Moran last
Saturday to visit a few days
with the family of. G. W.
Johnson.
The Circle Belt Railway was
all primed to knock out the
extension of the Texas Central
from Albany, but from the
amount of iron bridges and
other materials being sent to
the terminus of the Central,
the little scheme will fail to

We fail to see in what way
the Circle Belt had any desire
to "knock out" the extension
of the Central. They do not
conflict in anyway but instead
will be helpful to each other.
Let the Central go, and let the
Circle Belt come. Albany
loses nothing in either move-
ment.
Sir Robert Norville, of Sher-
man, Texas, who has been dn
the west for several weeks, on
a lecturing tour was in Albany
two days last week, and deliv-
ered two interesting lectures at
the court'house.
Lawyer B. F. Reynolds of
Throckmorton, visited with
Albany relatives several days
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Messer,
Mrs. J. B. Green, Mrs. Frank
Xalley, and Misses May Low-
ery and Bertha Nalley called
at the News office Thursday
evening of last week, to see
the News force get out an issue.

Saturday and Sunday with her
daughter, Mrs. Jerry Lynch, in
the country.
Dr. Allcurn is boss carpenter
on the new residence of Uncle
Tom Baker. The work is pro-
gressing nicely.
Judge J. C. Lynch and wife
spent last Sunday with Mrs.
Ellis Richardson at their ranch
home near Newcomb.
The News turned out a neat
lot of stationery for G. A.
Howsley this week. A1 enjoys
the reputation of being a good
blacksmith, and is up-to-date
in all things, even in using nice
stationery.
W. T. Posey and W. C. Tid-
well have their force at work
on a tank on the Big 3 ranch,
for Bartholomew, Reynolds &
Campbell.
John O'Loughlin made the
News a pleasant call last Mon-
day.
A phone message from
Throckmorton last Monday
announced the death of John
Power of Seymour, and Frank
Donnell of Throckmorton.
Both men were well known by
our citizens who will be griev-
ed to hear the sad news.

family from the A. J. Messer
residence to rooms with Mr.
Prude, in West Albany.
