Moran News
Outdoor decorating contest planned
Christmas concert slated Sunday
A
The Moran Home
makers again this year
will sponsor an outdoor
Christmas decorating con
test for Moran residents.
Decorations will be
judged in three cate
gories most original,
most traditional and most
attractive. Entries will be
judged December 15.
The Homemakers will
also place decorations
throughout the business
section of town. A lighted
Christmas tree will be on
display in the Moran Na
tional Bank and wreaths
will be placed on doors of
business houses.
Continuing a practice
begun several years ago,
the Homemakers will dis
tribute small gilts to
Moran's shut in citizens
December 15.
Martha Montgomery is
president of the Home
makers, and Janelle
Campbell is vice presi
dent. Amy Hudson is
secretary treasurer and
reporter.
Billie Sue Offield and
Cindy Cottle comprise the
telephone committee.
The Moran School
music classes are hard at
work preparing for the
annual Christmas concert,
directed by Mrs. Rhonda
Holson.
The program will be
presented at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, December 11 in
the high school
auditorium.
This year's program
will include Christmas
spirituals and many songs
from foreign countries.
Also included are two
modern carols by Rod
McKuen.
Students in kinder
garten through the sixth
grade will sing in the con
cert. Some songs will
feature the accompanfe
ment of bells and rhythi^
instruments played by
the students
The public is invited t&
attend the Christmas con-
cert.

Plus, Inc. The volunteer
organization has 25 direc
tors, representing many
segments of the popula
tion.

Boyd served as food
supervisor for Abilene
Meals on Wheels for 18

months, she has been a
dietary consultant for the
voluntary program,
Dorothy Boyd, who
holds a degree in Home
Economies, with a major
in nutrition from Texas A

ville, is a state approved
dietary consultant.

Church in Abilene.
The College Heights
Elementary School Choir
provided entertainment
att he luncheon.
Honorees at the semi
annual event were the 245
persons who volunteer
their time to deliver hot
meals to homebound per
sons. Individuals selected
as Volunteer of the Month
received Certificates, and
the Volunteer of the Year
en
Award was presented.
Mrs. Boyd is very
thusiastic about her work
with Meals on Wheels.
She emphasizes that all
work with the organiza
tion is done on a volunteer
basis.
The Moran High School
boys and girls basketball
teams participated in the
Woodson Basketball
Tournament December

first match with Newcas
tie handily 50 14. Blanche
Jentho with 20 points was
top scorer. Janet Sim
mohs'scored 14 points.
In their match with
Bryson the Moran girls
were defeated 49-34. Sim
mons scored 14 points and
Tiffany Brooks accounted
for 10.
The Moran girls played
Strawn for third place.
Strawn won the game
34 32. Simmons and Jen
tho each scored 14 points.
The Moran High School
boys basketball team was
defeated 80 30 by New
castle during the Wood
son tournament. Scoring
for Moran were Don
Whitt with 12 points and
Tom Mark with 10 points.
